TENBY U13s 5 NARBERTH U13s 24
Tenby played host to Narberth and weren't going to be put off by the weather on the day, scoring within the first 10 minutes with a try by Rob Fairlie. Unfortunately, the conversion taken by Curtis fell short of the post. Following an error on Tenby's behalf, Narberth took the opportunity of the gap on the pitch and ran through to score their first try of the match, followed by a conversion.
Deri was determined not to let the opposition get the ball once it was in his possession, and held on tight, making Narberth work to get the ball.
Tenby kicked off in the second half, with Narberth going on to score a further three tries and one conversion in the second half. Ozzy carried out some great tackles on the wing, not caring that the opponents were bigger than him.
Despite this, the try-line proved elusive for Tenby in the second half, but it wasn't from a lack of trying.
Following an ankle injury, Ieuan was taken off the pitch, which left Tenby down to 14 players. However, 10 minutes later he was back, following some physio from Splash!
The number 13 for Narberth proved to be too good on the day, with the final score Tenby 5 Narberth 24.
Ozzy was voted man-of-the-match for Tenby. Tenby team: Ross Edwards, Owain Evans, Dan Robins, Alex Heeson, Deri Issac, Curtis Hurlow, Ashley Bonser, Iwan Osborne (Ozzy), Cai Evans, Ryan O'Neil, Loui Fecci, Aled Smith, Rob Fairlie, Ieuan Williams, Leo Morland.
TENBY U10s
Tenby Under 10s started back training only a few weeks ago and had already reached the semi-finals of a county competition held at Whitland Comprehensive School fields on September 25.
They travelled back to Whitland on Sunday, October 9, to the Parc Doctor Owen Fields to take part in a round robin competition which on this occasion included teams from Whitland and Pembroke.
Eleven boys from Tenby took part under the watchful eye of coach Chris Williams and deputy coach for the day, Andrew Hill.
The first game was against Pembroke and captain for the day was Oliver Parsons who was celebrating his 10th birthday. The game started at a fast pace with Tenby pushing forward in an attempt to gain an early score with good runs from Ellis Morgan and Oliver Parsons. Pembroke defended well and the first half remained scoreless.
The second half started as the first finished with both teams showing some excellent running and tackling skills. Ellis Morgan eventually broke through and touched down for the first score of the game.
Pembroke reacted swiftly and tried hard to equal, but it was now Tenby's turn to rely on some excellent defensive play, with Cory Davies and Kieran Machin standing out.
Tenby continued to put the pressure on playing close to Pembroke's try line and Ryan Hill dived over for the second and winning try. Final score Tenby 2 Pembroke 0.
Tenby then played Whitland and once again the game started tight with nothing much showing between the two teams. It was the strength of Tenby and their forward play which eventually started to pay dividends and Tenby managed to push the game firmly into Whitland's half where a great deal of the game was played.
Whitland were determined not to give in and defended well, but Oliver Parsons showed his strength by running over to score the first try. It wasn't long before Joshua Lewis got on the score sheet running over for Tenby's second and third winning try. Final score Tenby 3 Whitland 0.
The coaches were pleased with the team's performance with a number of players already showing improvement upon last year.
Cory Davies was voted man-of-the-match for the tournament. Tenby fielded: Oliver Parsons; Joshua Lewis; Cory Davies; Ryan Hill; Elliot Williams; Jonathan Mattick; Ellis Morgan; Tom Prestwich; Ben Jones; Robert Davies; Keiran Machin.
