A new footballing initiative has been started in Tenby involving adult men's five-a-side football. Eight local teams have formed a new league, competing every Tuesday evening from 8-10 pm at Tenby Leisure Centre.

Exotic team names, such as Wink 91, Net Busters, AC Footers, Rumbleway, M+M Rangers, Castle Hill Billies, and not forgetting Lesley's Lovely Lads, parade their skills for excited spectators to marvel at.

Organised jointly between FAW football development officer Gerry Rigby and a small committee formed from the Centre, this league has been designed as something of a prototype, with the intention of future expansion if the format works. So far, the organisers have been very happy with the response, and the level of ability shown. There is also a growing list of additional teams who have expressed an interest in being part of any expansion in the new year.

The league has affiliated with the West Wales FA, and the committee is determined to offer a professional product, but at the same time providing it in a relaxed manner.

Any new team wishing to be considered for inclusion in any future extension to this league should contact Gerry Rigby, either at County Hall, Haverfordwest, or telephone (01437) 776379.
