Over 400 people packed the De Valence Pavilion last week to see one of the best boxing shows in Tenby history.
A number of special guests also turned up for the event to add to the excitement of the enthusiastic crowd.
Among them was former British champion Scott Gammer, who climbed into the ring and came face to face with former WBU and WBA cruiserweight world champion Enzo Maccarinnelli.
It set the scene for a brilliant night of boxing, with 12 local boxers from Tenby, Cardigan, Pembroke and Haverfordwest taking on boxers from all over Wales. Lots of past and present boxers attended the show, with Pembroke's own Henry Jones helping out at ringside and former Welsh international Jason Cheal looking after the corner for Tenby boxers.
Unfortunately, there was disappointment when Brandon Boswell, of Pembroke, had to be withdrawn from the first bout on the programme due to illness.
Bout two, though, was between Damian Houlston of Merlins Bridge ABC, and Benji Edwards, of Porthcawl ABC, resulting in a win for the Pembroke boxer.
Bout three saw Peter Price, of Tenby ABC, make his debut against a six-fight lad from Premier ABC. Although nerves got the better of Peter, he put up a spirited performance before being outpointed, on a majority, by the more experienced man.
Bout four saw Cardigan's Reef Murphy take on Curtis Williams from Barry East End ABC, with a points win for the Barry boy being the outcome.
Bout five was Sam Baker, of Tenby, against Michael Jones, of Cardigan. This one saw Sam outbox his opponent to take a well-earned points win. Young Sam is a former Welsh schools champion and one to watch for the future; his class was just too good for the game Cardigan lad.
Bout six was an exhibition match, with no result.
Bout seven saw David Sheenham, of Tenby, start off by having the best of the opening round. His opponent, Paul Jones, of Blyner Meas ABC, came back strong in the second, however, and caught David with several, hard right hands, resulting in the Tenby trainers retiring their charge at the end of the round.
Bout eight saw Pembroke's new hero, Scott Keen, display an array of power punching that took his opponent out in the third round. Ryan Williams, of All Saints ABC, was the man on the receiving end as he was knocked down by a right hand and was counted out. He was treated by the doctor at ringside and was passed fit after his KO.
Bout nine saw another Tenby boxer making his home debut, with Mark Finley taking on Matthew Jones, of Cardigan ABC. This bout set the crowd on alight, with both boxers looking to knock each other out. It was Finley who showed the better skills and confidence, however, to tease and torment his stronger opponent, winning the bout on a unanimous verdict.
Bout 10 saw Pembroke's other outstanding boxer, Nico Morrison, win an exciting contest against Welsh champion, Richard Needham from All Saints, Morriston, outclassing his opponent with his south-paw style.
Bout 11 saw the comeback, after 10 years out of boxing, of Darren Haines. He chose Welsh champion Chris Ware as his opponent. The brave Tenby lad showed he had plenty of heart for the fight, but was well beaten by the stronger and fitter champion, who is turning pro under the guidance of Enzo Maccarinnelli. Indeed Darren put up a brilliant rearguard action and came back strongly in the third round to surprise his opponent with some power punching of his own, before Ware eventually took the win via RSC due to blood on Darren's face and nose.
Fnally, bout 12 saw Mark Davies, of Tenby ABC, lose on points to Josh Jones, of Cwmgors ABC.
Bout of the night went to Pembroke's Nico Morrison v. Richard Needham and this was well deserved.
Trophies were supplied by Time Is, of Haverfordwest.
