The Wedgwoods, of Cosheston, were the subject of last month's historical society meeting.

Trish Allingham, a volunteer at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, provided a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the Wedgwood family.

The story began when Trish was researching the history of Cosheston village and discovered a Wedgwood family resident in the village.

Further research revealed that this was the grandson of Josiah Wedgwood, the founder of the famous potteries ceramics company.

Trish entertained the large audience with details of the exploits of various members of the Wedgwood family, along with details of a further local connection the Wedgwood family has by way of marriage with the Allen family, of Cresselly.

After answering several questions, Trish was formally thanked by Douglas Fraser, the society's chairman.

The guest speaker at the next meeting of the society is another volunteer and former trustee of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery - Helen Hills. Helen's talk is entitled 'In Memorium - Cromlechs, Cists, Crosses and the Crises of Faith'. This will take place at 7.30 pm on Tuesday, March 26, at Tenby Bowling Club. New members and visitors are most welcome.
