At the last meeting of the Tenby Historical Society, Conway Davies, who runs the masters degree in local history at Trinity College, Carmarthen, spoke on the subject of attitudes to mental health in West Wales during the 19th century.

He described the transition from workhouse to sanitorium and the often sad histories of the inmates of both.

A gloomy subject was rendered absorbing by an excellent and scholarly presentation.

There will be a change of pace for the next meeting when Bill Snelgrove will return to talk, this time on the subject of Samuel Pepys. The meeting will be in Tenby Bowling Club at 7.30 on Tuesday, June 23. Visitors are welcome.
