The picture above was taken from the 17th tee and shows the 16th green and beyond that the 17th green, the 2nd fairway, all the way to the 5th fairway, with a hint of the 13th tee, and then the 14th fairway, all framed by Caldey Island. A lovely sight that greets anyone playing the 17th.

TEXACO AM/AM

Last Sunday, the Texaco AM/AM was held with a shot-gun start... the gun being replaced by an air horn!

The competition was played with teams of four as a Texas scramble, with a complex handicap system.

On another lovely day, the winning team was Dan Cope, David and Roger Schooling and Niclas Thomas, with a very creditable 63 and a better back nine.

On the same score in second place was the team of Sue Griffiths, John Hancock, Mike Nesbitt Hawes and Mervyn Tucker, and in third place with 64 came the team of Viv James, Clive Law, Andrew North and John Stevenson.

CUP FINALISTS

The semi-finals of all the men's competitions are now complete and the finalists in the various cups are: Scratch Cup - Paul Haley and Adam Joseph; Allen Cup - Ian Thomas and Stephen Davies; President's Cup - Mark Poole and Richard Gwyther; Veterans Cup - Mike Nesbitt-Hawes and Jim Hinchliffe; Charles Mathias Cup - Derek Farley and Bill Beynon; Davis Cup - Stephen Davies and Richard Gwyther; Sellar Cup - Roger Schooling and David Cope; Reason Jones Cup - Scott Davies/Stephen Davies and Dean Rossiter/Neil Proctor; Colwyn Williams Cup - Martin Creese/Peter Rossi and John Badham/John Gillespie.

Congratulations to all those who have reached the finals, and best wishes to everyone on the day. Finals Day is on Sunday, September 21.

STUNNING WIN

Last Saturday, the club had a stunning win against Aberystwyth in the Dyfed League by 7-2. The successful team was Brian Cramb, Matt Brown, Dan Cope, Richard Morton, David Ayers, Richard Chapman, Martin Morris, Martin Creese, Nic Thomas, Bob Lusher, David Douglas-Law, John Stevenson, Allan Morton, Andrew Morton, Micky Barrett, Nigel Ayers, Gareth Rees and Rob Hall.

The team included four juniors, which bodes well for the future. Well done, just two more games to go.

PLAYING FOR WALES

There is some good news on the international front. Brian Cramb and John Gottwaltz have again been selected for the Welsh Amateur Seniors team to play in the Home Internationals against England, Ireland and Scotland. The competition runs from September 30 to October 2 at Seaton Carew, near Hartlepool. Well done to both of them.

AJO CUP

The first round of the AJO Cup in memory of Arthur Ormond will be played at Trefloyne tomorrow (Saturday) and there is a very full entry. The second round will be played on the following Saturday, September 13, at Tenby.
