Last Sunday saw a very strong Tenby junior/youth team entertain Ashburnham juniors at home. This was the first of what are hoped to be regular matches against other clubs in the area that will be arranged throughout the year.

The idea of the matches is to provide further experience of team matchplay for the older players, while letting the younger players get some valuable match practice.

The strength in depth of the Tenby team was evident by the 4.5 to 0.5 winning margin. There were victories for Sam Morgan and Jack Guerreiro 5 and 4, Matthew Moseley and James Maxwell 5 and 3, Chris Davies and Ben Price 5 and 3, Dave Webb and Matthew Adams halved and Matthew Jones and Cieran Slyne also won 2 and 1.

It had been hoped to play the younger players as well, but due to Ashburnham only being able to field a team of 10, they played a stableford competition amongst themselves. Megan Guerreiro scored 18 points over nine holes from the ladies tees, while Amber Thomas had 14 points and Sophie Lovatt and David Houser both had 12 points from the black tees.

Matthew Webb and Olivia Bradbury were both out of sorts with their games on the day, but no doubt will be raring to go next week off their proper tees! This Sunday sees another attempt at the playing of the February medal, with the usual tee-off at 10.26. The junior fixture list has been completed and copies will be made available for all by next Sunday.

The Wee Wonders and Junior Wales Open entry forms are available online for any juniors interested in competing, so please make sure that your entries are in before the closing dates!
