Every golf club captain always hopes that their Captain's Day will be fine. This year both the Club Captain and the Ladies' Captain had their hopes realised.

Ann Follon's Day was warm and sunny - not too hot for those of us who prefer chillier weather and not too cool for the heat addicts.

Some 40 or so members played and many produced some excellent golf, while the also-rans were very envious of the beautiful pottery prizes which Ann had provided with much care and thought.

In the early evening we congregated for a delicious supper and we were delighted that both Ann's daughters, Tara and Nadia, were able to join their mother and us for a very memorable day.

Heather Morgan, winner of the Captain's prize, thanked Ann for the day on behalf of all the members, and the evening was rounded off by Mary Rowell presenting Ann with mementos of the other two most notable events in her captaincy - the outing to the Vale of Glamorgan and the very successful Welsh Ladies' Golf Union Team Championship at Wrexham.
