Sunday was Tenby Golf Club's Finals Day. Unfortunately, the weather for the occasion was a little disappointing, with overcast conditions, a tricky wind and rain at times. But unlike the weather, many of the finals were sparkling affairs, with two of the games finishing on the 18th green and two on the 19th green. The course was in excellent condition and clearly contributed to the quality of the golf. Many thanks are due to Chris Jenkins and his greens staff. The day went very well and thanks are also due to all who helped in its organisation. In the evening, the cups were presented, together with other cups won during the year and the monthly and midweek medals.

Sam again squared the match on the 18th and eventually won on the 19th green. It was a very good match, with high quality golf. In the Presidents Cup, Martin Morris and Paul Heywood were also all-square after the 18th and had to go down the 19th to find a winner, with Martin eventually proving successful. Both the Davies Cup and the Allen Cup were won on the 18th. Indeed, overall, it was a very good Finals Day.

Sam pips Holly by one hole
A tremendous junior matchplay final was fought out between Sam Morgan and Holly Watkins last Sunday. Sam had the upper hand on the front nine, with Holly fighting back strongly on the back nine and going down the 18th one up. Sam managed a birdie on the last hole to take the final into into sudden death and onto the 19th hole, where Sam won to take the match 1 up. Very well done to both players for producing one of the most memorable Junior Scratch Finals ever. This Sunday is the September Medal, with practice starting at 9.30 am and the first tee booked for 10.26. Please turn up in plenty of time and sign in at the shop. On the October 3, the Monthly Medal will be played. This will also be the qualifier for the Celtic Manor PGA Junior Championship, for which there is an entry fee of £1 per player to be paid on the day. I.P.W.D.
