Club report

Last week was busy at Tenby Golf Club, with a match between the Swedish Under 18 international team, a four ball better ball competition, the Hotels Cup, the Fry Cup and the Dyfed County Junior Championships.

The weather over the weekend was very good and encouraged some good scores.

SWEDISH UNDER 18s

The Swedish international Under 18 team visited Tenby Golf Club last week to play a Tenby invitation team.

The photograph shows the Swedish team, together with their manager, Peter Ostlund, the Dyfed secretary, Alan Scott, Tenby international team captain, Dan Cope, and the Tenby captain, Bob Lusher.

The Swedish team were Emil Andersson (Mjolby GK), Per Barth (Karlstad GK), Cimon Cedergren (Osterlens GK), Alexander Deilert (Haninge GK), Jimmy Engstrom (Haninge GK), Joakim Hellgren (Vasteras GK), Andreas Ljungstrom (Knistad GK), Johan Lofstedt (Vetlanda GK), Anton Mattsson (Stromstad GK) and Henrik Norlander (Fagelbro G&CC) and they all had handicaps between 1.5 and +1.4.

The Tenby invitation team were Dan Cope (Tenby), Julian Davies (Carmarthen), Scott Davies (Tenby), Rhys Enoch (Truro), Mike Harries (Haverfordwest) Dan Horseman (Newport), Griff Lewis (Aberystwyth), Lee Lewis (Gower), Steffan Lindquist (Carmarthen), Richard Merchant (Celtic Manor), Phil Smith (Dewstone), David Thomas (Whitchurch).

The game was played on a very pleasant day for golf, with light winds, and the course was in very good condition for the time of the year. It obviously suited the Swedish team as they won the match by 9.5 to 2.5

There was a lot of very good golf played and after the match the teams shared a meal. There is a lot of talent in the Swedish Under 18 team and we wish them every success in their future with golf.
