Tenby Girls, sponsored by Heywood Mount Hotel, almost made a clean sweep at the finals of the Pembrokeshire Girls' League Astoturf Competition.
For the last six weeks, the girls have been playing at different venues around Pembrokeshire, culminating in the top three teams in each league playing a 'round robin' at Tenby astroturf on Sunday on a very cold morning.
The Under 11s, who entered as league leaders, won both their games to take the trophy.
They beat Johnston 2-0, with Ricky Glasscoe scoring both goals, and in their second game against Goodwick, they also won 2-0, with Ricky again scoring.
Under 11s squad: Jade Rowell, Ricky Glasscoe, Dazy Lloyd, Safiya Rooney, Georgia Poole, Anna Garvey, Ella Harley, Ella Furlong, plus Gabriella Fecci and Chloe Wilson (unavailable for finals).
The Under 13s saved their best performances for the finals and for the first time all squad members were available.
They drew 1-1 with Pennar, with a goal from Christina Smith. They then played extremely well to earn a 1-1 draw against a very strong Goodwick side, who had dominated the league, courtesy of a Holly Furlong goal.
With Pennar and Goodwick drawing 0-0, Tenby were under the impression that they had won on the goals scored rule, however the organisers insisted on penalties for the three Under 13s side who had the same goal difference!
Goodwick won the penalty shootout, but the Tenby girls should be very proud of their achievements.
Tenby Under 13s: Ella Furlong, Holly Furlong, Jess Webb, Christina Smith, Jadie Conbeer, Jodie Wallace, Hannah Taylor.
The Under 16s final was just as tight, with Tenby drawing 1-1 with Kilgetty after Maisie John scored a late equaliser and 0-0 against old rivals Pennar. Again this ended up with all three teams taking penalties. Tenby kept their heads, with Sophie Izzard and Darcy Escott taking good penalties and Lori Amos performing bravely in the Tenby goal. Claire Wallace saved the day with a sudden death penalty to give Tenby the victory they deserved.
