The second Tenby Blues Festival kept the town moving from Friday night through to Sunday, with people swinging in bars and other venues and even out on the street.

The festival was focusing on keeping the Blues alive and succeeded in getting Blues lovers to live out their passion for this wonderful music. A new tradition is born!

The opening concert on Friday took place at the De Valence where the local Tyler Brown Band got spectators in the mood from the start.

The concert reached a climax when the Sean Webster Band took the stage and had a grand finish with Otis Grand Big Blues Band bringing hot Blues and R&B rhythm at its best.

At the same time, Tenby Rugby Club was alive with great bands as well. The Spikedrivers gave an outstanding performance and had the audience swinging with their unique style and their use of unusual music instruments showing they have the Blues in their blood.

The first night finished with a Brains Session past midnight at the Fourcroft Hotel with a great attendance of true Blues lovers.

Saturday started with a lunchtime concert, while throughout the day free performances took place in numerous bars and clubs all over the centre of town.

The good weather brought people out on the street and each venue was packed as soon as the bands started playing.

The newcomers, J44, playing at the Normandie, got the room vibrating with energy and spectators moving to their sound even out on the street. Music and text of J44 songs are all home-made by the group in true Blues tradition.

During the evening, the De Valence, as well as the Rugby Club, were packed with Blues lovers enjoying high quality music and dancing through the night. The second Tenby Blues Festival had a grand finish on Sunday. The Revelators started the lunchtime concert with some quiet, historical Blues songs, followed by Virgil and the Accelerators. This group gave a stunning performance presenting the unbelievably talented 15-year-old guitarist Virgil McMahon. Something not to be missed. Only after a long encore was the audience willing to let them off stage.

A special thanks goes out to the sponsors, specifically Chevron, local businesses for their great support, as well as to all those wonderful helpers who worked tirelessly to make the second Tenby Blues Festival such a smashing success.

The organisers would like to have your comments and suggestions so that they can go from strength to strength and make the third Tenby Blues Festival an even bigger success in putting Tenby on the map.
