Already renowned as the birthplace of Welsh golf (est 1888), Tenby GC has recently been awarded another great accolade to further endorse its reputation as one of the country's finest golf courses.

Tenby is one of only seven Welsh courses to feature in the first edition of The Rolex World's Top 1000 Golf Courses, the result of a thorough process which has taken three years to complete. A team of over 200 'inspectors' anonymously worked their way around the golfing world in order to arrive at the definitive published list.

Rolex believe 'that the first time in the history of golf, a genuine world ranking has been established; like all rankings it is of course subjective, but it is the result of unbiased and independent opinion with no commercial pressure'.

There are approximately 33,000 courses registered worldwide, so to feature in the top three per cent is a tremendous honour for Tenby and one of which they are justifiably proud. Tenby's score was like the other featured courses based on the excellence of the course architecture, and of course the maintenance and condition of the course.

Having already featured in the UK's top 100, as well as top 10 best value courses, Tenby is now extremely proud to feature as the second highest ranked course in Wales, ahead of some great courses such as The Twenty 10 course at Celtic Manor, Royal St. David's and Aberdovey.

Club secretary David Hancock said: "Out of the the 1,000 courses, less than 100 were awarded more points than Tenby, the majority of which will have far bigger budgets and resources than us. It is therefore testament to the financial investment that the treasurer and committee have committed to the golf course over last few years that has resulted in this honour. Thanks must also go to the vision of the greens committee and the undoubted skill and experience of Chris Jenkins, the head greenkeeper, and his small, but hard working and dedicated team of Stuart Adams, Scott Williams and Michael Edwards.

"We hope that the people of Pembrokeshire will continue to enjoy the world class golfing gem that is on their doorstep."
