The newly installed Master of the Tenby Lodge of Freemasons has given a local cancer charity a boost with a donation raised from a recent event.

On the night that Damian Brown was installed as Master of Tenby Freemasons Lodge, the raffle at the celebration banquet raised an impressive £400.

As is customary at the annual Tenby Lodge Installation meeting, the new Master selects a charity to which the raffle proceeds are to be donated.

Damian chose Tenovus Cancer Care, which is a Wales based charity that gives help and hope to cancer sufferers by providing expert advice and counselling, and facilitating treatment in their mobile support units.

The charity also funds a number of research projects aimed at the development of new cancer drugs and treatment methods, as well as better ways to diagnose and prevent cancer.

Damian popped into the Tenovus shop located in Pembroke with lodge charity steward Steve Thurgood, and is pictured presenting a ‘cheque’ to Tenovus volunteer Elena.

Tenby Freemasons Lodge which meets monthly at their hall on South Parade opposite the seaside town’s historic town walls, has an ongoing commitment to support local charities and good causes, charity and service to the community being key constituents of the organisation.

To this end they were delighted to invite representatives of the recipients of further donations to their Masonic Hall earlier this year, to receive a financial boost from the Lodge, namely the Paul Sartori Foundation, the Pembrokeshire branch of the National Autistic Society, and Tenby Friendship Club.

Lodge Charity Steward Steve Thurgood commented at the time on the Tenby Lodge showing support for such three worthy local causes:“The community is important to us as Freemasons so we are very happy to support these local groups who provide their time and energy to improve the lives of others.”
