The Tenby AFC Under 9 team recently represented Pembrokeshire at the 'Champion of Champions' tournament at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The Tenby boys put in a very impressive performance in this prestigious five-a-side soccer tournament, which is organised by the Neighbourhood Watch Sports Trust in association with Sports Relief. And they were unfortunate not to progress to the final. Competing against the best teams in Wales in their age group, the boys enjoyed two convincing victories in the group stages against Gwent and Rhondda. They could easily have finished as group winners, had they not conceded an unlucky penalty after going ahead against a strong Bridgend side. As runners-up, Tenby qualified for the play-off stages, where they won one game and drew another. Unfortunately, the boys missed out on a place in the semi-finals by goal difference. However, this was the only small disappointment on an otherwise brilliant day. All the boys played magnificently and greatly enjoyed the opportunity to represent Tenby in the national stadium. The team's performance now ranks them as one of the top five Under 9 teams in Wales. Thanks must go to John Dyson and Kevin Ferney and all the parents who made this such a memorable day for the boys, and to Park Road Chip Shop who sponsor the kit for the Tenby Under 9 squad.
