MERLINS BRIDGE U14s 1 TENBY U14s 4
The Blooms of Tenby sponsored U14s had an away fixture at Merlins Bridge last Saturday. The match was played in atrocious conditions, but the boys put in an excellent performance, with the help of U13s player Alex Harley. After a nervous start, having not played for a couple of weeks, Tenby opened the scoring with a well-taken goal by Jamie Williams. Merlins Bridge replied with a lot of pressure on the Tenby goal, but resolute defending and good hands from 'keeper Richard Bridges kept them at bay. Tenby withstood the pressure and after some good work from Toby Smith, releasing Jamie in space, he duly got his second goal with a great strike from outside the box. Playing into the wind and rain after the break, Tenby were rocked when the Bridge scored with a powerful header from a corner. This shocked the Seasiders, but with the introduction of fresh legs by three substitutions being made, good interpassing resulted in Jordan Williams slotting home goal number three. Tenby then put the game out of the Bridge's reach when Jamie got his hat-trick with a lovely left-foot shot. Final score was 4-1 to Tenby -well done boys! Keep putting in the hard work and the rewards will come. Tenby squad: Richard Bridges, James Howes, Chris Heesom, Thomas Nash, Will Hughes, Jordan Williams, Toby Smith (capt.), Alex Harley, Rhys Winter, Patrick Roberts, Jamie Williams, Kiefer Thompson, Johnny Lammin, Luke Arthur.
girls football
Sunday saw all five of Tenby's girls' teams in action. UNDER 10s: A very young Under 10s side took on Kilgetty and Pembroke Boro. They lost 4-0 to Kilgetty, despite Vicky Walters making some very good saves in goal. Polly Scotcher and Ella Brace made their debut, with Holly Furlong, Lois Horsley and Kimberly Alman left from last year's side. In their second match they lost 4-1, with Lois scoring for Tenby. Squad: Holly Furlong, Lois Horsley, Kimberly Alman, Polly Scotcher, Ella Brace, Vicky Walters. UNDER 12s: The two Tenby Under 12s sides met in their first match of the competition. The Tigers won 6-0, with goals coming from Nia Thomas 3, Sophie Izzard, Elena Ciccotti. The Tornadoes had several new faces, including Zoe Brumby in goal, Danielle Harries and Felicity Grigg. Yasmin Woods had to come off injured fairly soon after kick-off and she was replaced by Holly Furlong, who partnered Roxy Paxton in midfield. In the Tigers' next match, they beat Burton 4-1, with Sophie 2, Nia and Elena scoring the goals. Rhiannon Harley played well in goal, with Gracie Bevan, Sarah Paterson and Ellen Thomas all contributing well to the squad. The Tornadoes met Goodwick and went down 3-0, despite some sterling defending. Tigers - Sophie Izzard, Nia Thomas, Gracie Bevan, Ellen Thomas, Rhiannon Harley, Sarah Paterson, Elena Ciccotti. Tornadoes - Zoe Brumby, Danielle Harries, Roxy Paxton, Felicity Grigg, Yasmin Woods. UNDER 14s: The A side made up for the previous week's lack of points with two stunning games against Saundersfoot and Burton. They went 3-0 up against Saundersfoot with some superb football, only to allow Saundersfoot to pull two back from free-kicks easily given away. Victoria Brace scored twice, with Ozzie scoring Tenby's third. Lucia Fecci was brave in defence and tackled well, while Holly Cloake ran and chased everything. Terri George, in goal, had no chance against the free-kicks, but kept her position well and gave good distribution to the forwards. In their second game they beat Burton 4-0, with Victoria scoring a hat-trick and Ozzie the other goal. The B side put up a spirited fight against Goodwick and came off with a worthy point in a 0-0 draw. In the second match, they held Pembroke Boro until the last minute, when a lack of concentration allowed Boro to take the lead. Up until then the match could have gone either way, with good goalkeeping by Lowri Lewis and solid defending by Kirsty Williams and Amy Murdoch. Rhianne Griffiths ran well and had several chances blocked or saved. Lucy May tackled well and Nia Thomas helped out with defensive duties. A team - Holly Cloake, Victoria Brace, Danielle Osborne, Terri George, Lucia Fecci. B team - Lowri Lewis, Rhianne Griffiths, Kirsty Williams, Amy Murdoch, Lucy May, Nia Thomas.
