The Tenby Cycles and Skateboard sponsored Tenby Under 11s travelled the short distance to Saundersfoot to play their first game since the opening week of December last year.

The match started relatively quiet, with both sides trying to adjust to the brilliant, warm, sunshine that greeted them, after all the wet weather which had caused so many postponed matches. Saundersfoot created the opening chance when a long ball found their tall striker, but the visiting goalie, Loui Fecci, did well to smother the shot.

Tenby eventually found the back of the net, although with an element of good fortune. Gareth Warlow raced down the right wing and pulled the ball back from the byline for Josh Koop to sidefoot home. The home players protested that the ball had gone out, but the goal was awarded.

Ashley Smith grabbed number two, following good work by Phil Horsley, and Ieuan Williams netted the third, when his long range shot took a slight deflection on route through several pairs of legs.

Ollie Worley gave the perfect pass to Gareth Warlow to score number four, while Koop latched on to another good pass from Horsley. Warlow completed the first half scoring when he sprinted on to a long ball from Daniel Edwards.

The second half saw Saundersfoot playing down the slight slope and attacking the visitors goal, with Ashley Andrews and Aaron Roberts both having good runs.

Tenby's defence held firm, with Daniel Edwards, Curtis Hurlow and Robert Fairlie clearing any danger. At the old end, Fairlie popped up to almost head home a Koop corner and both Smith and Horsley went close.

Gareth Warlow claimed his hat-trick with another good strike and Josh Koop also notched a trio of goals, this time from close range.

Sincere thanks are given to Saundersfoot for their after-match hospitality.

Tenby side: L. Fecci, C. Hurlow, D. Edwards, R. Fairlie, P. Horsley, A. Smith, O. Worley, I. Williams, G. Warlow, J. Koop.

Under 12 girls

There were no fixtures for the Tornadoes and the Twisters this week, leaving the Jays to compete against Neyland Hawks and Goodwick Dragons.

In a fast action match against the Hawks, the 0-0 result reflected an even, well-contested match, with scoring chances for both teams.

Rhianne, Sophie and Gracie worked hard in attack, but were denied by a strong Hawks defence. Natalie held firm in the Jays defence, with Ellen making crucial saves to keep another clean sheet.

In the second game, the Jays fell behind to the Dragons due to an error by the coach through a poorly-timed substitution - sorry girls.

The Dragons doubled their advantage, before Elena pulled one back for the Jays. Unfortunately, the shocked Jays struggled to recover and finished the game with the Dragons scoring a further goal to inflict a 3-1 defeat - the Jays' second defeat in consecutive weeks.

The team, Rhianne (capt), Sophie, Elena, Gracie, Natalie and Ellen, may have to consider their future game plan to compete against the other teams, which appear to be growing stronger. Keep going girls!
