TENBY U14s 5

PENNAR U14s 3

Tenby Under 14s are keeping Pembrokeshire's hopes alive in the next round of the West Wales Cup.

They met Pennar Robins in an exciting game that had been postponed on two previous occasions due to bad weather.

Pennar shocked Tenby in the first minute with a breakaway goal by Craig George that caught the visitors' defence flat-footed.

A strong wind behind them helped Pennar mount further attacks regularly, but as Tenby found their feet, Boswell and Christopher came close when put right through.

As the game progressed, Tenby's passing game made them more of a threat in the middle of the pitch, but Pennar's willingness to challenge for every ball made for an even game.

Pennar gave Tenby a further reminder of their determination when they went 2-0 ahead in the last minute of the first-half.

Tenby opened the second-half with some determined attacks, but went 3-0 down in what was going to be a shock defeat.

However, when Mikey Boswell scored with a stunning overhead bicycle kick, the game opened up, with Tenby looking dangerous, although Pennar still countered, forcing Richard Thomas to make some daring dives in the Tenby goal.

Tenby's constant push for goals sapped the confidence of the Pennar defence, and goals from Mikey Boswell (3), Adam Johns and Guto Griffiths saw them through to the quarter-finals of the West Wales Cup.

This superb 5-3 comeback even outclassed the Man City match during the week!

Tenby: Richard Thomas, Scott Helmich, Brett Evans, Luke Dedman, Aaron Goldsmith (capt.), Adam John, Sam Christopher, Guto Griffiths, Billy Vaughan, Mikey Boswell, Henry Boot, Michael Halligan, Joe Scourfield.
