The Rumbleway Caravan Park sponsored Tenby Under 10s played Kilgetty, on a cold, drizzly morning, at the Clicketts the last week before Christmas. Both sides played good football, with Tenby having slightly more chances at goal than their opponents during the opening period.

However, it was Kilgetty who scored first when their diminutive forward, Milward, slipped the ball under the advancing Jake Roberts in the Tenby goal.

Milward was a constant threat to the home defence and Greg Lees-Griffiths, Matthew Davie and the outstanding Daniel Edwards did well to contain him and his fellow forwards.

Tenby's equaliser was somewhat lucky. The home side were awarded a corner when the ball had apparently not entirely crossed the line and Curtis Hurlow's resultant kick was then deflected in off a defender's leg. The half ended with the score even.

The Seasiders started the stronger at the beginning of the second period and Ashley Smith managed to get on to the end of a Loui Fecci cross to nudge Tenby into the lead.

Jake Roberts had to be very alert to the darting runs of Milward and then, perhaps against the run of play, a low shot from Philip Horsley from a good pass from Ieuan Williams gave Tenby a two-goal cushion.

As time was running out, Gareth Warlow unleashed a powerful shot which the Kilgetty 'keeper just failed to hold and which put the game out of the visitors reach.

Although Tenby finished the stronger, the scoreline flattered them, as Kilgetty pushed them all the way to the final whistle.

Tenby side: J. Roberts, G. Lees-Griffiths, M. Davie, D. Edwards, C. Hurlow, P. Horsley, A. Smith, I. Williams, G. Warlow, L. Fecci.

TENBY U16s 5

KILGETTY U16s 0

Tenby Under 16s, sponsored by Tees-R-Us, grabbed all three points in this local Derby just before Christmas.

The Seasiders opened their account within five minutes when Jack Christopher provided Liam Robson with the simplest of tap-ins and the home side's score was doubled when a David Otton corner was superbly headed in by captain, Darren Taylor five minutes later.

Tenby were well in command at this stage, with Bruce Tasker and Ben Quartermaine providing ample crosses for Robson and Christopher and when Robson put away Tenby's third, just on the 20-minute mark, it looked virtually all over for the visitors.

But like most Derby matches there's a lot more at stake than just points and Kilgetty began to settle down, with Hughes, Woods, Nicholas and Reg working hard to contain the home attack. But their real hero was Adam Hughes, in goal, saving at least four goal-bound attempts before the interval.

The second half was a similar reflection of the first, with 'keeper Hughes coming to the visitors' rescue on several occasions, but he was eventually beaten by a curling David Otton shot. Lloyd Wilson scored number five for Tenby when he deftly chipped the advancing Hughes.

Tenby could have added to their total, but Jac Worley, Wilson, Robson and Christopher were all guilty of missing the target. The Seasiders defence, who stifled out any remote attack on their goal, finally left a gap for Tom Christopher to slip through to unleash a shot that beat Hurlow, but not the crossbar.

Thanks to Alan Sykes for taking up the whistle.
