TENBY U12s 2

ST. CLEARS 3

The Picnic Basket sponsored Tenby Under 12s played their first game for several weeks against St. Clears at the Clicketts.

Joe Scourfield played in goal in the first-half with a changed defensive system due to several players being in unavailable.

Thomas Spencer and Scott Helmich played left and right back, respectively, and found themselves up against some speedy wingers.

Luke Dedman and Jamie Robins both played very well as central defenders and broke down many St. Clears attacks.

With a normal midfield formation of Gavin Kinsey, Adam Johns, Billy Vaughan and Jordan Lloyd, Tenby hoped for great things. Sam Christopher was partnered up front by Ryan Lewis who was drafted in at the last minute.

St. Clears scored first, after a break from the left wing. They kept their lead until half-time, despite some good play by both sides.

Sam Christopher equalised just after the restart and then Tenby seemed to step up a gear.

Their second came from Billy Vaughan. While Tenby were still celebrating, St. Clears pulled one back. Scott, now playing in the Tenby goal, blocked a good shot, but unfortunately St. Clears got to the loose ball first.

Both sides played for the winner, but St. Clears wanted it more and with 10 minutes to go, a breakaway saw them once again take the lead.

Despite frantic efforts from the Tenby side, St. Clears claimed three points to knock Tenby off their challenge for second place in the league.

Thanks to Remi for refereeing, Steve Briers for the pitch and Martin and Jack for running the line.

ST. CLEARS U13s 1

In brilliant sunshine on Saturday, David Jones opened the account for the Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions sponsored Under 13s with a well-taken goal following brilliant work from Jamie Robinson.

Matt Fleming also went close from a Jamie corner.

Then good following up from Mark Davies saw him lob the 'keeper, benefiting from good play from Jamie and a fine turn from David Jones.

At the other end, Tenby coped well with the St. Clears pressure, with Oliver, Ieuan and Ben all to the fore. Ben is maturing well in central defence and his clearances helped Tenby earn a third, Matthew Fleming scoring.

Ashley Prior forced the best from the St. Clears 'keeper, with Tenby now really hitting form and playing excellent football. The St. Clears 'keeper was constantly involved, with his opposite number Ashley Murdoch rarely troubled.

However, St. Clears did catch Tenby on the break, and Ashley was unlucky not to save, making the half-time score: Tenby 3 St. Clears 1.

David Jones calmed Tenby's nerves, claiming Tenby's fourth following a good through ball from Jack, and Tenby maintained the pressure.

The St. Clears 'keeper suffered a knock, reducing them to 10 players for a spell, although Tenby were unable profit from this situation.

Zak came on for Jack, and David nearly put Ashley clear following dazzling footwork.

Ashley put Matt Fleming clear and he slammed the ball in, leaving the 'keeper nonplussed, while Ashley himself added a sixth following a fine pass from Ieuan and good through ball from Matt.

Jamie Robinson then struck a shot which the St. Clears 'keeper forced wide, and the 'keeper was on hand again to punch the ball out from another effort.

Tenby's Ashley Murdoch was also on hand to push a St. Clears shot onto the bar, while Oliver and Mark did some excellent tidying up at the back as the Seasiders stood resolute in all departments.

Jamie scored Tenby's seventh, with the St. Clears 'keeper having a 'Nigel Martyn' as an unlucky bounce sent the ball through his legs.

And he was left with no chance again as David grabbed Tenby's eighth and final goal.

It was a good performance by the team, with the game well refereed by Mr. Alan Sykes.

Thanks to the spectators, and to Bobby for running the line.

St. Clears worked hard, but could not really match the class which Tenby exuded on the day.
