On the back of a heavy 3-0 defeat against league leaders Narberth last week, the Seasiders were intent on getting back to winning ways in this local derby.

Carew flew out the blocks, only to be denied by home 'keeper Ben Evans who was in superb form. This game was played in the manner of any derby game and tackles were mostly hard but fair.

Big Jammy in defence was on a mission from the kick-off, denying anyone space and was booked for a late challenge.

Both teams had many chances, but Ben Crockford and Charles Davies up front could not capitalise on the pressure. Tommy James was trying his utmost to hold the midfield together and create chances for the two strikers. On the two wings, Seb and Young Jammy were up and down the line running for everything.

The three senior players, Tony Beare, Peter Horsely and Big Jammy, knew how much this game meant and how vital the three points would be, and therefore showed their experience whenever attacks threatened the defence.

Near the end of the first-half, the Carew number nine decided to take matters into his own hands and when the referee pointed to the spot following a challenge in the area, everything was left to Tenby's on-form 'keeper Ben Evans.

Evans was told to "go with your gut feeling!" by right-back Stu, and this duly paid off as he pulled off a great save, plucking the ball away from the top right-hand corner.

This inspired Tenby to go on and create chances, with Seb, Jammy, Peter Horsley and Tommy coming close, but at half-time it was still 0-0.

The second-half saw Dom Lamb and Peter Thomas replace the front two, with Seb switching to striker and Peter Thomas filling in at right midfield. Stuart McLaren and Bomber at fullback kept the speedy Carew wingers at bay and tried to get forward as much as possible.

Nick Webster-Smith was also introduced later.

Unfortunately, soon after, when exchanges appeared to get a little heated, the referee took the decision to abandon the match.

The two teams, meanwhile, adjourned to the Lifeboat Tavern, where excellent after-match food was enjoyed.

Team: Ben Evans, Stuart McLaren, Richard James, Tony Beare, James McKay, Marc James, Tommy James, Peter Horsley, Seb Palin, Ben crockford, Charles Davies, Nick Webster-Smith, Dominic Lamb, Peter Thomas.

HUNDLETON U16s 2 TENBY U16s 3

Tenby Under 16s, sponsored by Tees-R-Us, recorded this latest excellent win and avenged the defeat they suffered at the hands of Hundleton, earlier in the season at the Clicketts.

The game was played in a good spirit and the teams were evenly matched.

Unfortunately, the game was marred by a nasty injury to the home player, Joe Lewis. Lewis fell awkwardly after jumping for a high ball and was stretchered from the field and later conveyed by ambulance to Withybush Hospital.

Tenby elected to play against the strong wind at the start and immediately put the home side under pressure. David Otton and Matthew Birch held the midfield well and constantly fed the two front runners, Bruce Tasker and stand-in striker Mo Sofan, who both had good chances to open the Seasiders' account.

That task eventually fell to Birch, who rifled in a low shot, after Otton's original effort was deflected into his path.

Minutes later, Tasker was set free by Ben Quartermaine on the left and after skipping past one defender, he cleverly chipped his shot over an advancing home custodian. In fact, the Hundleton 'keeper made a string of important saves, in both halves, to keep the game so close.

The green and whites began to use the wind wisely and, after a few chances of their own, they were awarded a penalty by referee Keith McNiff after a clumsy challenge. The penalty was duly converted and minutes later the injury to Lewis occurred.

For the first time in this game the Seasiders looked slightly disorganised and uncomfortably and Hundleton took full advantage of this, because within 15 minutes of the restart they had drawn level. A neat move down the left wing ended with a super cross into the box and, although Sion Jenkins, Darren Taylor and Lewis Hurlow, twice, blocked shots, the ball found a gap through a crowded area into the net.

Tenby settled down after this setback and played the same football which served them so well in the first half. Tasker, Quartermaine and Birch had efforts well saved and with five minutes left Birch found enough space to rifle in a Tasker corner.

However, the game wasn't over as the home side threw everything forward, but the closest they got was from a cross which hit the outside of the post.

Tenby team: L. Hurlow, D. Rowell, D. Taylor, B. Field-Thomas, S. Jenkins, P. Broadhurst, M. Birch, D. Otton, B. Quartermaine, B. Tasker, M. Sofan, S. Phillips, J. Worley.

MERLINS BRIDGE U13s 1 TENBY U13s 3

Tenby Under 13s reached their first ever cup final after a very close semi-final against Merlins Bridge.

This was a game of two contrasting halves, with Tenby dominating the first half, but only managing to score two goals due to some sterling work by Bridge 'keeper Richard Reed.

Micky Boswell put Tenby ahead with a well-taken penalty after Adam Johns was brought down in the box.

He added another after Gavin Kinsey played a ball from midfield to Sam Christopher who cleverly punched it through for Boswell to run on and finish.

Merlins Bridge attached intermittently, but Richard Thomas in goal, Tenby's defence of Scott Helmich, Jordan Lloyd, Joe Scourfield and Brett Evans plus the help of the crossbar kept them from scoring.

With Tenby 2-0 up a half-time, the Bridge changed their tactics in the second half.

They broke well from defence and for most of the second half gave Tenby a torried time. Pressure was put on the midfield and Guto Griffiths and Luke Dedman had to track back to defend. Michael Halligan came on as replacement to further the cause.

Bridge got the goal they deserved and for a time it looked like they were going to snatch an equaliser. But thanks to some desperate defending by the whole Tenby team, the goal eluded them.

Tenby broke through on a counter-attack and the squad and supporters were relieved when Boswell scored his third goal to give Tenby a slight cushion.

Well played to the whole squad and the boys are looking forward to playing Hakin in the final. Thanks to all the parents for their support and Nick for running the line.

Squad: Richard Thomas, Joe Scourfield, Jordan Lloyd, Brett Evans, Gavin Kinsey, Adam Johns, Guto Griffiths, Luke Dedman, Sam Christopher (capt.) Mickey Boswell, Michael Halligan, Ritchie Collins, Joel Pendel.
