TENBY U16s 3

MONKTON SWIFTS U16s 1

After a night of unpredicted thunder and lightning, the T. P. Hughes sponsored Tenby U16s took on Monkton at a sunny Clicketts in a game which turned out more predictably than the weather!

The opening goal for Tenby was a superbly judged shot from David, from close to the left touchline, which the visitors' goalie could do little about. David then provided the assist for Lander to calmly slot home number two. Tenby were cruising, with everyone playing well.

Monkton are always convinced they have the beating of this Tenby side and were denied a cracking goal when Corey pulled off a brilliant, almost slow motion, save early in the second half.

But this just drove Monkton on and they scrambled one back. As Sam shouted 'we deserved that lads, come on lift it', there was only one reply, which Adie, David and finally Lander provided by assisting in and scoring the third goal.

Tenby comfortably held on to their lead until the end to win this final junior league encounter against Monkton.

Every Tenby player had a good game, not having to lift themselves too much to overcome Monkton again. It will be a different matter this week when Tenby are scheduled to travel to Hakin for what could be the league decider.

Thanks to coaches John, John and Neil, to John for refereeing, kit sponsors T. P. Hughes and Jameston Village Stores and the touchline gang.

Squad: Corey Hill, Cheyne Lloyd, Tom Grover, Sam Butler, David Webb, Hugo Wellum, Elliot Goldsmith, Toby Rossiter, James Adie, George Lander, Joe Worley, Callum Greer, Matt Davies, George McBeth.

Lamphey U14s 2

Tenby U14s 4

The Park Road Fish and Chip sponsored Tenby U14s reached their second final of the season after an exciting Friday night league cup semi-final away to Lamphey.

With a swirling wind and a slippery playing surface, both teams took time to settle into a frantic cup tie. Tenby had the better of the opening chances. Callum Steele went close with a header from a corner, while Declan Escott and Scott Ferney blasted over from distance.

Another outstanding performance from Adam John in midfield gave Tenby the edge as the first half progressed. Good link-up play by Spencer Williams and Lloyd Hughes down the left created an opening for Scott Ferney, who ran through on goal and clipped the outside of the post.

As Tenby upped the pressure, Declan Escott had a 15-yard shot brilliantly palmed behind by the Lamphey 'keeper. Lloyd Hughes fired just over, and Spencer Williams hit a first-time volley just wide after a long corner found him unmarked at the far post.

Lamphey defended resoloutely and almost took an unlikely lead, after breaking quickly. Luckily for Tenby the ball came back off the post and sweeper Owen Coombs reacted quickly to clear the danger.

A quick forward move by Tenby then released Lloyd Hughes down the left. His long cross was met by Scott Ferney who evaded his marker to head Tenby into the lead.

Tenby started the second half against the wind with increased vigour. Ben Roberts made a good run from right midfield, and Declan Escott went close with a stunning 25-yard strike.

A loose goalkick was then intercepted by Scott Ferney who slotted Tenby into a 2-0 lead. Lamphey came straight back at Tenby lofting a long ball downfield. The ball was carried by the wind and deflected across the edge of the area. Tenby 'keeper Dan Evans raced out, but a Lamphey striker got their first and fired into the unguarded goal.

The game continued to be closely fought with fullbacks Spencer Williams and Luke Hartland having to work hard to contain Lamphey breaks, but it was Tenby who scored the vital next goal.

A long free-kick was curled into the area by Owen Coombs, and knocked out for a throw. The ball was played into Sammy Smith, who was caught by a defender, but stayed on his feet to blast Tenby 3-1 up.

Adam John and Sammy Smith threatened down the centre as Tenby pushed for a fourth. And an intelligent crossfield pass from Declan Escott released Scott Ferney, who chipped just wide.

Charlie Gammer and Adam Muskett came on for Tenby. And a wonderful piece of individual skill from Escott then gave Tenby a seemingly unassailable lead. A neat drag back and turn wrong-footed a defender on the edge of the area, before the striker impressively swept a shot over the 'keeper.

Tenby's fourth heralded a late surge from Lamphey, who pulled back to 4-2 and then pressed Tenby back for the closing two to three minutes. The home side had chances to get more, but ran out of time as Tenby defended in numbers and held on to reach their second final of the season.

Hundleton Under 9s v Tenby Under 9s

The Quay West sponsored Tenby Under 9s travelled to Hundleton last week and played two matches.

The first match was played at a fast pace, with both sides having several chances to score. However, it was Tenby who opened their account when a good cross from Tate Lawrence was met first time by Jacob Hipkiss to hit an unstoppable shot past the home 'keeper.

Although Hundleton had a number opportunities to draw level, they couldn't find a way passed Dylan Noot in the Tenby goal.

Darren Gibson then increased Tenby's lead when he shot through a crowded area into the lefthand corner of the goal.

The Seasiders continued their form in the second half and scored two more goals.

Rhys Morgan showed his talent when he made a good run down the right wing and set up Harri Phillips, who beat the home 'keeper from five yards out.

The final goal was from James Gardner who hit a superb strike from 10 yards.

The second game was equally as entertaining and saw some good football played by both sides. However, Tenby just proved to be a little too strong for their counterparts.

Jacob Hipkiss opened the scoring again with a neat finish following good passing by Rueban James and Dylan Creese.

Hundleton tried to level matters, but Rhys Grigg saved everything that was thrown at him.

Little Tom Wright increased his side's lead when he weaved his way past several defenders and deftly placed his shot wide of the Hundleton 'keeper.

Tenby finished the game the stronger and added a third goal when Jay Rees found himself in acres of space and he struck a sweet left-footed shot into the bottom righthand corner of the goal.
