MONKTON U16s 1

TENBY U16s 3

Eager to put last week's demoralising defeat behind them, Tenby's T. P. Hughes sponsored U16s side travelled to Monkton.

With several players unavailable, and Callum still injured, the team welcomed Corey Hill to the side.

Games with Monkton are always hotly contested and this was no exception. Once the teams settled, Tenby took control and relentlessly pressurised the Monkton defence, with Goldie breaking the deadlock late in the first half.

Again the visitors dominated the start of the second half and George Lander scored their second as Tenby looked comfortable.

But Monkton lifted their game and Tenby had to do some stout defending, before birthday boy Joe burst through the centre with the ball, ran down the pitch and calmly slotted the ball home - a personal birthday present to himself!

It should have been the last goal, but Tenby generously gifted Monkton one before the whistle, ending a game which had all the usual ingredients.

A much better display from the Tenby team who now have an enviably strong squad.

Thanks to coaches John, John and Neil, Andy on the line, referee McNiffe, kit sponsors T. P. Hughes and Jameston Village Stores, and the touchline support.

Tenby squad: George McBeth, Cheyne Lloyd, Tom Grover, Sam Butler, Corey Hill, Hugo Wellum, Joe Worley, Toby Rossiter, Jack Murphy, George Lander, Elliot Goldsmith, Matt Davies, Nathan Farmiloe.

Tenby struggled to find any sort of rhythm in a first half where they conceded an early goal following indecision in midfield.

Their reaction was one of panic when they fired in a series of shots from long range, failing to get the ball on target once.

The result of this was that the Narberth goalkeeper was never tested and the time taken on getting the ball into play stopped any chance of Tenby finding their usual tempo.

Tenby approached the second half in more positive fashion with a series of stinging shots which the home goalkeeper did well to save.

Narberth almost went further ahead shortly after the break through a one-to-one situation which was brilliantly smothered by Lewis Roberts.

A free-kick on the Tenby left gave Niall Kinsella the chance to equalise for Tenby with a high shot to the far post.

The game changed after this and Tenby gained more of the midfield possession. Jerome Mansbridge then looked set to increase Tenby's lead with crosses which other attackers failed to convert.

Richard Tebbutt put Tenby ahead with an excellent ground shot and Norton gave the visitors a 3-1 lead which looked fairly comfortable until the final minutes when Narberth made one last effort and scored from close range to make the final score 3-2 to the visitors in what had been an exciting match.

Tenby squad: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Dent, Shaun Whitfield, Rob Davies, Nathan Wilson, Rhys Jenkins, Richard Tebbutt, Niall Kinsella, George Wilkins, James Bridges, Jerome Mansbridge, Aaron James, Norton, Ellis Morgan.

Tenby U11s

Tenby Under 11s made an impressive start to their campaign this season beating St. Clears 3-0.

Jack Mills, taking the place in goal of the injured Fletcher Dyer (we wish him a speedy recovery), had a solid game. Although he didn't have to make many saves, he stayed alert throughout the game and was ready when called upon.

The defence of Ben Millwood, Harry Cook and Ben Rossiter made sure Tenby kept a clean sheet.

Finn Bowie, Billy Lawrence (suffering from jeg lag!), Max Brindley and Dylan Scotcher played superb total football in the centre of the park, benefiting from the three-touch football played every week at training.

Quite simply, the St. Clears team battled hard, but could not cope with Tenby going forward which opened the game for lone striker Henry McBeth to bag a hat-trick.

The first was set up brilliantly by Harry Cook, storming forward from the back for Henry to finish, the second was a superb solo run from Henry, beating four St. Clears players to place the ball in the corner of the net, while the third was created by the excellence of Max Brindley to take the complete St. Clears defence out of the game, leaving Henry free to smash the ball home!

A great game of football enjoyed by coaches and parents alike - well done boys!
