Treboeth

United U16s 3

Tenby U16s 1

Tenby Under 16s, sponsored by Willow Carpentry, just failed to lift the West Wales Youth Cup after narrowly losing out to Swansea based team, Treboeth United.

This was the first time in the history of the competition that a Tenby side had reached the West Wales Youth final and they were a credit to the club and county.

Played on the superb facilities at Stebonheath, Llanelli FC, Treboeth started the stronger and created several chances and to no surprise opened the scoring with a powerful header following a good attack down the left wing.

They could have increased this lead but for some excellent defending from Lees-Griffiths, Edwards, Elliott, 'keeper Roberts and man-of-the-match and captain Hurlow.

However, as the game wore on, Tenby began to find their rhythm and, with Carroll and Finnegan controlling the midfield, they equalised towards the end of the half, when Andrews crossed the ball in and Richards hit a first time shot into the top right-hand corner of the goal.

This was no more than Tenby deserved and Thomas could have given his side an interval lead, but his shot just went over the crossbar.

Tenby tore into the Swansea side at the start of the second period and were unlucky once again, when this time, Smith screwed a good opportunity wide of the left-hand upright.

Tenby could not convert this pressure into goals and on a breakout Treboeth attacked with speed and venom to edge in front, knocking the wind out of Tenby. This, combined with a very large pitch, saw some very tired bodies appear on both sides. However, Treboeth just found that little extra energy and, after rattling the Seasiders' crossbar, grabbed a third to claim a deserved victory.

Tenby Under 16s would like to thank Silcox Coaches for their sponsorship on the day, Peter Roberts and the vast number of supporters who travelled up and were in fine voice; it all added to the special occasion.

TENBY U10s 5 CWMFFRWDOER JUNIORS AFC 0

Tenby Under 10s played at home to touring Pontypool side Cwmffrwdoer Juniors AFC on a sunny Saturday morning. It was their first game for several weeks and turned out to be a great game of football.

The first half started well and the Tenby boys soon took control of the ball, tackling and defending well. Jack in goal made some brilliant saves and denied the touring side a goal on several occasions. Tenby continued to pass the ball, Elliott, Tom and Tom in defence constantly pushing it forward into the Cwmffrwdoer half, where a cracking shot by Ryan got the boys off the mark. Shortly before the whistle blew for half-time, Ryan scored his second goal putting Tenby two-nil up at the break.

The second half saw some player changes and the game quickened its pace, but the boys continued to dominate. Caie played well making some great attempts on goal, only to be denied by the 'keeper. Zac and Tom played well with some great tackles, gaining control and passing the ball well. Tom scored a goal with a superb shot into the back of the net. James and Danny made some fine runs, but their attempts on goal were denied by the 'keeper.

Elliott and Tom tackled well, crossing the ball into the opposition's half, where the boys kept possession of the ball allowing Toby to score. It wasn't long before the Seasiders got their final goal with a tremendous shot outside the box by Toby settling the score at 5-0 as the whistle blew for full-time.

Thanks go to coach and referee for the day, Matt Broadhurst, and to the parents for their continued support.
