Tenby under 16s 8 Pennar Robins u16s 0   The N. D. Toy sponsored Tenby Under 16s produced their best performance of the season when they demolished Pennar Robins with a first half of pace, and a more tactical second half when they faced a strong wind.

Playing against a team who had beaten them before the Christmas break, Tenby went about creating many goal-scoring opportunities through Alan Townsend, Andrew Evans, Tom Nicholas and Daryl Mansbridge. This resulted in a lead of 4-0 by half- time. Chris Heesom made a welcome return and stamped his authority on the game, working well with Toby Smith through the middle of the pitch. Nicholas opened the scoring and Evans put his side 2-0 ahead with a diving header, when a cross by Mansbridge was headed back by Nicholas.   Pennar built up some attacks, but these were generally safely dealt with by the Tenby back four of Will Hughes, John Squire, James Howes and Lloyd Thomas, behind which Richard Bridges looked safe in goal.

Mansbridge made the score 3-0, and then put his team in a healthy position for half-time with an excellent goal when he ran through and beat the tall visiting 'keeper with a skilful lob. As expected, Pennar had more of the game in the second half with the wind behind them.   However, Tenby defended well, with Smith getting in some strong defensive headers, and  Bridges made an excellent save when pushing a long shot over the crossbar. James Whitehouse replaced an injured Howes and aided  Tenby's attacks along the wings by  Nicholas and  Mansbridge, resulting in crosses which  the packed Pennar defence managed to clear.

Pennar had to bring back a large number of players to deal with the threat Tenby now posed, and some clumsy defending resulted in a penalty, which 'keeper Bridges duly put away to make the score 5 -0. Pennar's team effort could only make isolated attacks as the game wore on, and Tenby's pressure brought about another penalty which Smith fired in from the spot to put his team 6-0 ahead.

Evans scored again with a straight shot which went between the visiting goalkeeper's legs to make the score 7-0.

Rhys Winter and Lewis Hodgson came on and fitted in well to show their ability. A further blunder in the visiting penalty area resulted in a spot kick by John Squire to round off the proceedings at 8-0 for Tenby in what had been an interesting and unusual second half.

Tenby squad: Richard Bridges, John Squire, Lloyd Thomas, James Howes, Will  Hughes, Chris Heesom, Andrew Evans, Alan Townsend, Toby Smith, Darryl Mansbridge, Tom Nicholas, Rhys Winter, James Whitehouse, Lewis Hodgson.

Man-of-the-match: Lloyd Thomas. Thanks to sponsors N. D. Toy and Partners and to Gary Heesom for refereeing.

TENBY UNDER 9s 8 CLARBESTON ROAD 0

The Andrew Price sponsored U9s played their first home game of the new year. The conditions were perfect and the pitch was a credit and allowed Tenby to play some good passing football.

The boys set about their business and within 15 minutes were 3-0 up, thanks to a quickfire hat- trick from Jack, who along with Billy worked very hard in midfield. And it was Billy who scored the fourth goal just before the break.

Tenby welcomed back Natty in goal and Rhys returned after a few weeks off. The second half was much as the first, with the boys passing and moving well. The defence was solid, with Ben and Harry playing with a good understanding of each other's game and the ever- improving Jordan playing just in front of the defence. Up front were Adam and Malley, with Rhys starting on the bench.

It was Adam who scored the next goal, and a well- worked goal it was too. Now the boys were pushing forward and a long ball out from the Clarby 'keeper saw Ben and Harry back-pedalling, with a sharp shot brilliantly saved by Natty, who had kept his concentration throughout. Rhys, now playing wide, was running at the Clarby defenders, who had no answer to his pace and skill and it was not long before he had his name on the scoresheet.

Malley worked hard and supported Rhys and Adam and was unlucky to have a goal disallowed for an earlier foul on Billy. Jack was still full of running and caused Clarby plenty of problems. Rhys scored his second when, with a lovely run, he passed the defenders with ease and slotted the ball past the helpless 'keeper. Harry and Ben were joining the attack and along with Jordan must have enjoyed keeping the Clarby forwards scoreless.

The final goal came from hard work from Ben, who kept the ball in play on the right, and Jordan played a long ball to Adam, who smashed home his second and the team's eighth.

George was unable to play this week, but still enjoyed supporting the boys and next week will look forward to getting back to playing.

Well done boys, and thanks to all parents, and to Tatty for refereeing the match.

Team: Natty John, Harry Goforth, Ben Howells, Jordan Cornick, Malley Paxton, Billy Truman, Jack Parkinson, Adam Davidson, Rhys Davis.

TENBY U14s 13 SOLVA U14s 0

The Willow Carpentry sponsored Tenby Under 14s won their 12th game of the season against lowly Solva. This win keeps them in pace with the league leaders, Camrose, who Tenby meet a week tomorrow.

Tenby reshuffled their side against Solva due to absentees and squad rotation, but still put in an excellent performance.

Alex Heesom, partnering Will Thomas up front, scored a fine hat-trick, with Thomas grabbing two himself. Greg Lees-Griffiths, who revelled in the midfield role, also scored a hat-trick, one a superb header from an Ashley Smith cross, while Smith weighed in with two, with one a good strike from outside the box. Aaron Roberts, Phil Horsley and replacement Gareth Warlow all got one apiece.

At the back, Nicky Jones and Rob Fairlie fitted in neatly with Patrick Elliott and captain, Curtis Hurlow to protect Jake Roberts in the Tenby goal and produced their eighth clean sheet.

Tenby side: J. Roberts, N. Jones, C. Hurlow, P. Elliott, R. Fairlie, P. Horsley, A. Roberts, G. Lees- Griffiths, A. Smith, W. Thomas, A. Heesom, G. Warlow, C. Millward, J. Delahunty. TENBY U8s 5 LAMPHEY U8s 0

Pembrokeshire Mortgage Centre's sponsored team were home to Lamphey last Saturday. Tenby took control from the start, with great running from James and Daniel and shot after shot, but to her credit, Lamphey's goalie worked hard keeping the goals out.

More chances came in from Ben and Tom Murphy, but to no avail.

Tenby's first goal came when a free-kick was awarded to Daniel, who crossed to James, only for his first effort to be saved, but on the rebound he scored in the top corner.

Many chances were being created by the Tenby side, but Lamphey's goalie held strong on her line. Another great run came from Elliot and Tom James, while Tenby's defence remained tight, with Jack in goal doing a great job.

Half-time saw a good team talk and a substitution, with Cai taking a break and Zac coming on. Shortly after play recommenced, Daniel scored a cracking goal, putting Tenby two ahead.

Tenby constantly fought for the ball for the full 30 minutes.

James Harris added a great third goal and Tom James made it four. A corner then came in from Zac, who crossed to Elliot, whose shot at goal came back to Daniel, but eventually went in off the boot of Zac. Tenby congratulated themselves on another successful win - well done boys! Many thanks, as always, to Matthew Broadhurst (coach), Dale Elms and all parents and supporters, and to Peter Horsley for being referee for the morning.

Team: Cai Elms, James Harris, Daniel Wainwright, Ben Palin, Thomas Murphy, Eilliot Moorhouse, Tom James, Zac Steele, Jack Broadhurst.
