MERLINS BRIDGE U16s 1 TENBY U16s 2

The Tees-R-Us sponsored Tenby Under 16s were made to work hard for this victory at the Racecourse and were pushed all the way by a very plucky Merlins Bridge side. Tenby showed no signs of the form from last week's encounter with Herbrandston and this inconsistency could be their downfall at the end of the season.

Although the Seasiders had the majority of possession during the game, they made too many unforced errors. Fortunately, for the visitors, the Bridge couldn't capitalise on these chances, mainly due to the superb defending of Dan Cope, who held Tenby together throughout the match.

At the other end, Jack Christopher went close with a left-footed shot, after being put clear by Bruce Tasker, before David Otton gave the Seasiders a little breathing space when he rifled in a Matthew Birch cross.

Liam Robson should have made it two, but he scooped one shot over the bar and then had a goal disallowed for offside, and just when Tenby seemed to be getting on top, the Bridge got on level terms. A low cross from the left eluded the outstretched Darren Taylor and the home centre forward coolly slotted the ball past Sion Jenkins in the visitors' goal.

However, minutes later, Taylor made amends for his earlier slip when, from a corner, he blasted in from six yards.

The only pieces of action in a stalemate second half were Jack Christopher hitting the post and then having the ball cleared off the line, after he had rounded the 'keeper, while at the opposite end, any danger near the box was dealt with by either Cope or Jenkins.

Not the best of performances from Tenby but, nevertheless, three valuable points.

Tenby team: S. Jenkins, M. Sofan, D. Cope, D. Taylor, B. Field-Thomas, M. Birch, L. Wilson, D. Otton, B. Tasker, L. Robson, J. Christopher, P. Broadhurst, D. Rowell, J. Worley.

TENBY U13s 4 CLARBESTON ROAD U13s 0

Tenby U13s faced Clarbeston Road with some intrepidation as this was one of the few teams that had beaten Tenby three times last season.

After a good warm-up, Tenby were ready to take to the field and from the first whistle tried to stamp their authority on the match.

A very exciting game followed. Sam Christopher and Mikey Boswell combined well up front and Tenby had several chances.

At the other end, Clarbie tested Tenby's defence to the limit. Jordan Lloyd had the game of his life and he was well supported by hard tackling Joe Scourfield in the centre of the defence. Guto Griffiths, in an unusual position as left back, showed his versitality and commitment with some brave defending, while Scott Helmich had his usual fine game.

Tenby's 'keeper saw a lot more action in goal than of late and was ever-reliable, coming out well when needed and his shot stopping was great.

Brett Evans and Adam John held the midfield, with Gavin Kinsey and Luke Dedman playing well on the flanks.

Mikey Boswell got the all-important first goal after Tenby had put the pressure on. They still had a lot of defending to do as Clarbeston Road are renowned for their comebacks.

During the second half, Aaron Goldsmith came on, after a lay-off for injury, with Michael Halligan playing wide on the right. Evans moved back to left-back where he had a superb second half.

The commitment and determination of the whole squad was really evident and the side were rewarded with a well-taken goal from captain Christopher after he had been put through by Goldsmith.

Boswell scored his second after good work on the left-hand side by Evans and Griffiths and then he completed his hat-trick after Henry combined well with Christopher and Boot.

These two must surely be the deadliest striking duo in the league.

Clarbeston Road kept threatening until the very end, but the Tenby side and supporters were thrilled at their best victory so far this season.

Squad: Richard Thomas, Brett Evans, Scott Helmich, Joe Scourfield, Jordan Lloyd, Gavin Kinsey, Guto Griffiths, Adam Johns, Luke Dedman, Mikey Boswell, Sam Christopher (capt.), Aaron Goldsmith, Henry Boot, Michael Halligan.

CAMROSE 3

The Tenby Taxis sponsored Under 12s entertained Camrose at The Clicketts last Saturday.

This was the eagerly awaited top-of-the-table clash, with Tenby occupying first position and Camrose second, and what a thriller it was.

Camrose started the game at a furious pace and with 10 minutes gone they were 3-0 ahead. The Tenby supporters were stunned and a cricket score appeared to be on the cards.

However, the boys had other ideas and settled down and started to play the football we all knew they were capable of.

Rhys Winter was put into space by a through ball from Toby Smith and, beating a Camrose defender, hit a delightful shot which gave the 'keeper no chance and the score was now 3-1.

Almost from the restart Tenby were on the attack again and when Toby Smith found his way into space in the Camrose penalty area with one defender to beat, he was fouled and a penalty was awarded. Uncharacteristically, Toby missed the subsequent spot-kick.

Tenby now had the bit between their teeth. The back four of James Howes, William Hughes, Mathew Davies and Thomas Nash had shored up the holes that had leaked the earlier three goals.

James was in magnificent form and having the game of his life; Mathew as usual made some telling tackles and was a rock in defence.

William marshalled his troops with his usual thoroughness and caught Camrose offside on a number of occasions.

Thomas Nash showed his deceptive pace and thwarted a number of Camrose attacks.

Tenby mounted another attack and team captain Keifer Thompson, finding himself in space in front of goal, coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net to make the score at half-time 3-2.

After the turnaround Tenby started where they had left off.

The electrifying Chris Heesom was unlucky on a number of occasions. Johnny Lammin had a big game and held the ball up well in attack and linked effectively with midfield.

Tom Harland used his pace to good effect and kept the Camrose back three busy.

It wasn't all one-way traffic, however, and Tenby 'keeper Richard Bridges was kept busy at the other end, his determination to keep his side in the game showing with a number of fine saves.

Halfway through the second half Tenby substituted James Maxwell for Johnny Lammin.

With approximately two minutes remaining Tenby were awarded a corner and pushed their entire team into the opposition's half in an attempt to score that elusive third goal and salvage a draw.

The corner kick, taken by James Maxwell, was cleared, but only as far as James Potter Howes, who unleashed a spectacular shot which was fumbled by the Camrose 'keeper, allowing the ever-present Tom Harland to score the equaliser.

Well done boys, your grit and determination to level the scores when 3-0 down to a quality team are a credit to you. Keep it up.

HUNDLETON U10s 1 TENBY UNDER 10s 6

The Rumbleway Caravan Park sponsored Tenby Under 10s had the shock of their lives when they trailed by a goal to nil at half-time to a Hundleton side seeking revenge for an earlier defeat in the season at Tenby.

However, normal service was resumed after the break, when one of the smallest players on the pitch, Oliver Worley, found the back of the net just minutes after the restart.

This encouraged the red and blacks and Curtis Hurlow scored number two with a super strike, with Philip Horsley grabbing the third when his shot hit the crossbar and went in.

Tenby's score was completed by Ashley Smith who notched yet another hat-trick, his third of the season.

Tenby side: R. Fairlie, J. Roberts, G. Lees-Griffiths, D. Edwards, C. Hurlow, P. Horsley, A. Smith, G. Warlow, J. Knoop, O. Worley.
