TENBY U12s 4
MERLINS BRIDGE 0
Tenby's Picnic Basket sponsored Under 12s side travelled to the Racecourse, Haverfordwest, for this game.
With two of the team getting lost, Tenby had to start with a reshuffled side. Changes in the back four were made to accommodate this and the midfield took a long time to settle down.
Up front, Guto Griffiths and Sam Christopher saw a lot of the ball, but the Bridge defended well.
The Tenby side looked sluggish at times - probably due to the fact that they have not played many games of late - and although Aaron Goldsmith played his heart out in midfield, Tenby lacked the aggression and finishing that was impressive at the start of the season.
Richard Thomas had another clean sheet in goal, but was called upon several times to come out and clear a through ball.
Thomas Spencer once again had a steady game at left-back, supported by Adam Johns and Joe Scourfield. Jamie Robins tackled well and saved the side on many occasions.
Tenby's first goal came after captain Billy Vaughan passed to Griffiths out left, and he had the confidence to take on the fullback and cut into score.
Scott Helmich started off well on the right flank and made some good runs with inter-passing between Vaughan and Christopher, while Richard Jones put in several good crosses from the left.
With a scoreline of 1-0 at half-time, Tenby knew they had to do more. Christopher scored a good individual goal very soon into the second-half.
With Johns moving out to the right, the Tenby attack started to wake up and Griffiths and Christopher both scored again to give Tenby a comfortable lead.
A penalty was also awarded to Tenby late on, which they failed to convert.
Gavin Kinsey came on during the second-half and got involved straightaway.
Although coming away with three points, the Tenby side needs to start playing well again if they want to compete with the sides they are going to meet over the next couple of weeks.
Thanks to the parents for their support and help with providing transport.
Team: Richard Thomas, Scott Helmich, Jamie Robins, Aaron Goldsmith, Sam Christopher, Billy Vaughan, Jordan Lloyd, Gavin Kinsey, Richard Jones, Adam Johns, Joe Scourfield, Thomas, Spencer.
The boys looked very smart in their new coats sponsored by Irish Ferries.
GIRLS FOOTBALL
Tenby Jays: The Jays met Saundersfoot Stingers in their first game and won comfortably 4-0, with goals from Victoria, Jade and Jenna.
In their next match against Tenby Tigers, it was a much closer affair, with Jade scoring the only goal in a tight 1-0 win.
Leila played well and Sophie Izzard made an impressive debut.
Tenby Tornadoes: In their first game they played Pembroke Boro. With only four of their regular players turning up, it was always going to be a hard game.
Pembroke won 5-0, but the Tenby girls were not disheartened.
Holly and Sophie Rees played well in midfield, with Becca in defence and Gracie up front.
In their second game, they found their form and two goals by Holly gave them a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Neyland Terriers.
Thanks to Katrina for helping the team out.
Tenby Tigers: The Tigers had a close fight with Saundersfoot Sharks, going down 2-0, but they fought back well in the second game, losing by the odd goal to top-of-the-league Tenby Jays.
Lucia played well in goal, with Lucy and Carlie defending. Nia chased every ball up front, while Lowri and Taylor worked hard in midfield.
The previous week the Tigers lost 3-1 to Pembroke Boro and 2-0 to Tenby Tornadoes.
Tenby Jays: Jenna Wright (capt.), Jade Manning, Victoria Brace, Leila May, Sophie Izzard.
Tenby Tornadoes: Holly Cloake, Sophie Rees, Becca Mearns (capt.), Gracie Bevan, Katrina.
Tenby Tigers: Lucia Fecci, Taylor Field-Thomas, Elena Chicotti, Lowri Lewis, Nia Thomas, Lucy May (capt.), Carlie Brown.
UNDER 14s
The Under 14 girls had a comfortable 3-0 win over Saundersfoot, with Liz Nicholas scoring two and Rebecca Young one. Lauren Wright played well again in goal, with Penny Young defending, while Kaylie Davies and Liz Nicholas played in the middle of the pitch. Annie Davies looked threatening up front with ample help from Rebecca.
Their next match was very close, with Johnston once again snatching a late goal in a game that really deserved to be a draw.
Tenby 14s: Kaylie Davies, Liz Nicholas, Annie Davies (capt.), Lauren Wright, Penny Young, Rebecca Bevan.
Thanks to Ani for running the teams and to all the parents for providing transport. Two weeks to go!

KILGETTY U10s 1
Tenby U10s played a friendly against Kilgetty on Saturday, but soon realised this game was 'no friendly', with Kilgetty attacking from the start.
The game was played in excellent spirit, with both sides giving their all.
Tenby went ahead with a great move, when a pass out of defence by Brad found Henry, who slid the ball to Lloyd and on to Daryl, whose shot was blocked by the goalie, but there was Ianto to tap it into the net with his right foot.
Kilgetty fought back and Lewis in the Tenby goal had to make some important saves. However, after heavy pressure, Kilgetty levelled the score to make it evens at half-time.
The second half started the same as the first, with Kilgetty going straight onto the attack, and the Tenby defence pulling out all stops to keep them out, with good tackling from Alex, Brad and Lewis Davies.
Midway through the half, Tenby broke out and, after some excellent passing, Tom Nicholas got on the end of a through ball to hammer it past the Kilgetty 'keeper to take an unexpected lead.
The game then flowed from end to end, with both goalies making good saves and the woodwork making others.
At the final whistle, both teams were clapped off the field after producing a terrific game of football.

TENBY LADIES 7
CARMARTHEN LADIES 0
In a match switched to Kilgetty, the Tenby Famous £ Shop Tenby Ladies overcame the heavy ground conditions in what was their first outdoor league match for three months, to record a heavy win against gallant Carmarthen.
Neither side adapted particularly well in the first-half, although Tenby had so much territorial advantage that their goalkeeper Denise Powell only touched the ball on about six occasions.
Cally Roberts and Hazel Sawyer, at right and left back, respectively, kept the Carmarthen wingers contained, while Imelde Rossi and Carrie Slack held the central defence. Ani Nicholls worked with Michaela Bevan on the left-hand side, with Sally James and Nicola Aston also combining well.
Selina Morgan and Louise Cooper saw plenty of ball, but in front of goal Tenby were hesitant, and the brave saves of the visiting goalkeeper were keeping Carmarthen in a game, which at times looked as though it was heading for a goal-less draw.
However, the tenacity of Sally James in looking for rebounds and the danger of Michaela Bevan cutting in from the left, gave the home supporters some optimism. This pressure was converted into three good goals from Selina Morgan and one from Michaela Bevan in a 20-minute burst leading up to half-time.
Coming out for the second-half, Tenby looked more determined, needing to capitalise on some of the forward runs of Imelde Rossi and the constructive passing of Carrie Slack.
Success was soon to follow, even though Carmarthen had all their players in the goalmouth on occasions, and many good shots either rebounded clear from defenders' legs, or were smothered by the brave 'keeper.
Tenby went 5-0 ahead when Michaela Bevan forced the ball in from close range, and with this the Tenby confidence returned, to produce the sort of passing movements that are expected of them.
Tenby at last found the answer to the sticky conditions in their use of the long ball up the drier wide parts of the pitch, and in the last 15 minutes Michaela Bevan looked particularly threatening with her wing-play on the left.
Tenby continued to challenge well in the mud and got a supply of long passes to the front players who were now much more prepared to try hard on every occasion.
Tenby's composure and their ability to run at their opponents provided the chance for Sally James to put them 6-0 ahead with a clever chip over the goalkeeper, before Louise Cooper completed a good debut by cutting in from the right to score with a low cross-shot to make the final score 7-0.
Tenby squad: Denise Powell, Cally Roberts, Sally James, Carrie Slack, Imelde Rossi, Hazel Sawyer, Ani Nicholls, Michaela Bevan, Louise Cooper, Nicola Aston, Selina Morgan, Angela Nicholls.
Thanks are due to Kilgetty for providing a pitch for this ladies' league match at short notice.
Next week, Tenby meet Carmarthen again in the semi-final of the League Cup.
