So far this fiscal year, from April 1 to September 3, local police officers have attended 2,288 calls for assistance in the Tenby area alone, reports the town's police chief, Inspector Les Clark.

"I have examined the immediate response statistics for the period January 1 to date and report that officers attended the scene of urgent calls, including 999 calls, within the target time of 20 minutes from the initial report for 93 per cent of all such calls, with 77 per cent attended by a police officer within 10 minutes," reported Insp. Clark.

"Taking into account the rural nature of the area covered by Tenby officers, the response to urgent calls is impressive and represents an improvement of two per cent over the same period last year and exceeds the force targets by three per cent," he added.

Reporting on crimes of violence or offences against the person in the town, Insp Clark revealed a reduction so far this fiscal year from 92 offences to 52, while for the period of June, July and August, crimes of violence within the town walls reduced from 15 offences last year to eight this year, a reduction of almost a half.
