Councillors in Tenby have requested a site meeting at Serpentine Road with Pembrokeshire County Council’s director for children and schools to try and find a solution to ongoing parking and traffic issues in the vicinity.

At a meeting held earlier this month, the clerk to Tenby Town Council, Mr. Andrew Davies, told members that he had received an email from a concerned resident regarding parking in the area, together with some supporting photographs displaying evidence of the matter.

The resident also highlighted concerns over dangerous parking in and around Tudor Way and its junction with Heywood Lane, near Serpentine Road, during the mornings and afternoons, when children were being dropped-off or collected from schools.

Mr. Davies said that after the resident had contacted Pembrokeshire County Council over the matter, he was surprised to hear that PCC?had responded suggesting that she contact the town council in order for something to be done.

Mr. Davies forwarded the correspondence to PCC’s senior traffic engineer, Ben Blake, and streetcare manager, Marc Owen.

He also forward it to the local police authority as it was a public safety matter.

PCSO Rayner had spoken with the clerk and the situation was to be assessed by Sergeant Rodriguez.

The matter was raised again at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, where members heard that traffic enforcement officers and the police had been monitoring the situation when they could

However, councillors felt that this was not sustainable long term, and agreed that as a course of action, they would ask PCC’s director for children and schools, Mrs. Kate Evan-Hughes, for an on-site visit to look for a solution.
