The largest parish church in Wales, St. Mary's in Tenby, was the setting on Sunday for the civic service of Pembrokeshire County Council's new chairman, Clr. Michael Folland.

The service was conducted by the chairmans's chaplain, Rev. Canon David Jenkins, Rector of Tenby, Penally, Gumfreston and New Hedges Churches.

Lessons were read by Clr. Folland and the chief executive, Bryn Parry-Jones. Intercessions were read by Bishop Dewi Bridges, who was Rector in Tenby when Clr. Folland was Mayor of the town over 20 years ago.

Among the guests were the High Sheriff, E. J. K. Evans, and the Vice Lord Lieutenant, John Allen-Mirehouse, as well as chairmen from neighbouring authorities.

The collection taken during the service is to be donated to the League of Friends, Tenby Cottage Hospital.

Afterwards, a reception was held in the De Valence Pavilion.
