The Cancer Research UK shop in Tenby was a little brighter on Friday and Saturday last week when shop manager, Chris Hearn, donned a very bright multicolored suit with hair to match as part of the charity's Stand Up to Cancer campaign.
Over two days of fundraising, £155 was received in cash donations and £160 worth of Stand Up to Cancer wristbands and other merchandise was sold.
All donations made to Stand Up To Cancer go towards funding translational research - that's the research that turns discoveries made in the laboratories in to actual treatments for patients.
As Chris explained: "Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to fighting cancer through research into causes, prevention and treatment and it's thanks to that research that cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years."
"The funds raised through Stand Up to Cancer will focus on research that has been specifically designed to have an impact within a few years. Some of that research is done right here in Pembrokeshire at Withybush Hospital."
Chris added: "I would especially like to thank the staff and customers of Tenby's cafés, pubs and shops in particular Blueberry's and Tenby House - who bought wristbands and made donations to the campaign. Also I hope I put a smile on people's faces as I walked around town in my multicolored outfit!"
If you would like to donate to Cancer Research UK, or to the Stand Up to Cancer campaign, please visit the shop in Tudor Square, Tenby.
The shop is also looking for new volunteers, so please contact Chris, either in person or by telephone on (01834) 845451, if you would be interested in volunteering. Giving up just a small amount of your spare time can help the shop enormously.
