The Mayor of Tenby has said that things are shaping up well for the town's festive celebrations, which begin tomorrow (Saturday) with the Christmas lights switch-on.
"It's almost here and everything to date is coming to fruition, with Father Christmas due in Tudor Square tomorrow afternoon!" Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane told her colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council.
Santa will be arriving in the resort on the town's lifeboat, the Hayden Miller, courtesy of Tenby RNLI, before joining the Mayor in his sleigh to head for Tudor Square and the big switch-on of the Christmas tree in the grounds of St. Mary's Church at 5 pm.
The Yuletide merriment starts at 4 pm, with Tenby's own 'Mr. Entertainment' himself, Laurie Dale, and the town's Friendship Club leading carols and Christmas songs in Tudor Square, while shops in the town will also be opening later in the evening and local charities and organisations will have stalls in the Square to raise money for their charities.
The town clerk offered thanks to the town's firefighters and the contractors from Anglo Holt for the use of their cherry picker to help lift and dress the Christmas tree, and the church for allowing the town council to site it overlooking Tudor Square.
