On October 1, Tenby Camera Club took part in the Bridgend 12-way Battle.
Twelve Camera Clubs from South Wales entered five images each, judged by John Tilsely.
Tenby was placed second with 94 points out of a 100 losing to club Inn Focus with 97 points.
Tenby member Cheryl Hewitt had a 20/20 for her image ‘Storm Ophelia at Church Rock’. An excellent result for Tenby.
On October 4, internal competition secretary Dave Marriott introduced judge Brian Coleman, who had the formidable task of critiquing and scoring the first open competition.
There were 20 prints entered and the winners were:
1st place - ‘Biker Boys’ with 20 points by Jan Sullivan; 2nd - ‘Nuthatch with a nut’ with 20 points by Charlie Kidd;
3rd - ‘I know you told me to keep dry but’ with 20 points by Al Rees.
There were 25 digital images entered and the winners were:
1st - ‘19’ with 20 points by Neil Thomas; 2nd - ‘The 3 Scorpions’ with 19 points by Alistair Mackay; 3rd - ‘Rounding the Pole’ with 19 points by Neil Thomas.
There was an interesting range of topics covered, from dreamy landscapes, action sport, birdlife and street style. Brian Coleman gave fair and constructive comments, praising the standard of entries which made his life difficult to pick the final winners. Many thanks to him for an entertaining evening.
