Internet users in Tenby could soon be enjoying high speed web access as the campaign to get the local exchange broadband enabled gets close to a successful mid-point.
BT requires the exchange to get 200 people to pre-register their interest in Broadband access. Last week, the total number of pre-registrants reached 175, putting success tantalisingly close.
If people continue to register at the same rate, the 200-name target will be reached very soon and a trigger will then be given which can be reach by the end of the year - and then BT can start work on broadband-enabling the local exchange.
Broadband Tenby is an independent campaign to help the people of Tenby to get online with broadband internet connections.
The goal of the campaign is to get the local telephone exchange enabled for broadband by generating interest in the form of pre-registrants. Once 200 people have pre-registered, BT will set a trigger level for the exchange and once that is met the exchange will be upgraded to receive Broadband,
The benefits of Broadband are great:
• Internet speeds 10 times faster than dial up
* Download bigger files faster
* Always on - no waiting for a connection
* Costs around £25 per month
Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven all have Broadband and with your help so will Tenby!
