At last the summer’s come
I’ll catch a train from smoky Brum,
Tenby bound, that’s where I’m going,
I’m nearly there, the train is slowing.
Station smart, all nice and neat,
Hanging baskets, what a treat,
I’m very tired after the long trip,
Can’t wait to eat and have a kip.
I’ll find some digs and rest my feet,
As I struggle with my case up Warren Street,
It’s vacancies I’m look for
As I see a landlady standing by her door.
“Can you fix me up?” “Of course, love,” she said,
“Is it breakfast you want, and a bed?”
I’ve loved Tenby from the start
Every time I left it broke my heart.
Now I’ve lived here for many a year,
But I will always remember, as an old Brummy fella,
Those lovely welcome stays at ‘Llangdon Villa’.
Bob Lowe,
Tenby.
