Two Tenby bikers will be joined by two royal brothers when they embark on a gruelling off-road motorcycle rally through South Africa in aid of charity.
Warren Street neighbours David Stewart Walvin and Graham Lightwood will be joined by Prince William and Prince Harry when they take part in the Enduro Africa's Ride for Life 08, a 2,000km ride in rough terrain in a mission to buy off-road motor bikes for African AIDS health workers in Zimbabwe in the fight against childhood AIDS.
Enduro Africa is supporting UNICEF's campaign, Unite for Children Unite Against AIDS, specifically preventing mother to baby transmission of HIV.
David and Graham will meet the bikes in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, today (Friday) and will be among around 80 people taking part in the eight day off-road rally, along with the two Princes who are both accomplished riders and motorbike owners.
"It will be a physically and mentally challenging adventure and now with two VIP guests also on board, I'm sure the press coverage will be immense," said David who along with Graham set-off from Tenby yesterday (Thursday).
"I'm sure we will make some brilliant friendships out there and we will be spending eight days with the two Princes which is something unprecedented really.
"As two reasonably normal blokes who met by chance in Tenby, we both had a passion for biking. Individually, we were both inspired by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's 'Long Way Round' DVD.
"We came across EnduroAfrica by chance and decided that we could ride off-road in South Africa, as well as raise funds for such a worthwhile cause," added David.
"We set ourselves the target of raising £10,000 and were delighted when we reached that figure, so we'd like to thank everyone who has sponsored us and also family and friends who have supported us. People can still donate online if they wish and check out the details on our website http://www.thedaftwayround.com,"">www.thedaftwayround.com," continued Graham.
"We'd also like to say thanks for our clothing donated by Nitro and Bering through MPH Motorcycles," he added.
