The May meeting of the branch was held on Saturday. The chairman, Mr. Tony Wales, welcomed everyone present and took apologies. He commiserated with the group about the unsuccessful campaign to get Christine re-elected to WAG and said that Christine would be attending the meeting later to give her thanks to all who had helped, and to reflect upon things. The secretary reported a letter from Glenys Kinnock who was to have addressed them in November. Unfortunately she will now be in Africa at that time, but promises to come in 2008. After various business reports were made, Christine and Nick joined members, and the group listened carefully to what Chris had to say. She was thanked most sincerely by the group for all the work she had done over the past eight years for the community here in Pembrokeshire, and especially for her tremendous personal commitment to the new Tenby Cottage Hospital. The speaker for the morning was Huw Irranca Davies, MP for Ogmore. It was his first visit to the Tenby and Saundersfoot branch, but he told of his connections to this part of the country and the fact that he had an uncle who was once a monk on Caldey Island! In a wide-ranging speech, Huw touched upon several topics, including his own work, Labour's achievements over the past 10 years, environment issues and the priority issues here in Wales. After the address, there were many questions asked. It was a most interesting meeting and Huw was thanked warmly by the members and by Tony. The next meeting will be on Saturday, June 17, at 11 am, at St. Teilo's Church Hall, where there will be an open forum. There will also be a table-top sale. In July, there will be a fund-raising BBQ, as last year, at Skrinkle.
