Tenby and District Soroptimists had a very enjoyable trip to Cardiff on Tuesday, July 24, before the summer break, when members were firstly given a guided tour around the Welsh Assembly Senedd. Everyone was very impressed with the magnificent building, which cost over £68 million to build. The next visit on the trip was to Velindre Hospital. President Anne Kelly has chosen Cancer Research Wales as her main fund-raising project for her year. The club was very impressed with the welcome they received at the hospital and the trouble they had gone to, in giving a very interesting and informative talk on their work and achievements. Velindre Cancer Wales is completely self-funded, which made Soroptimists very conscious of the money that had been spent on the previous building they had visited that day. Tenby and District Soroptimists will be holding a Grand Gala Premier Film Night, with a screening of Amazing Grace, on Saturday, September 29, when Steve Williams, of Tenby Cinema, has kindly agreed to donate the money raised from tickets to Cancer Research Wales. Ticket information can be obtained from Tenby and District Soroptimist members or secretary Judy Brew on 01834 843903.
