Our final club meeting in July was well attended and plenty of socialising took place. That is what the club is all about, a meeting of friends for coffee and a chat (writes L.D.). The meeting was chaired by our president Bryon, who led the applause for the forthcoming events of our secretary's birthday and 40th wedding anniversary. We have a goodly number of people attending the ladies day on Wednesday, July 30. If you wish to attend just to listen to the talk you will be most welcome. We have bought the equipment to allow us to show DVDs on the large screen; it now needs to be fitted. The speaker for the morning was Lew, who spoke at some length about the Brain and how it functions (or not). His talk was based on an article called 'The expansion of consciousness'. This was an experiment set up to prove that there was no such thing as Spirits. After 585 pages, the report acknowledges, with reluctance, that there are such things as spirits. Nothing else makes any sense. This led to many questions and lively discussion, which was good. Our next club meeting is on August 6 when our speaker will be Ray Poole. Ring Lew Day on 844633 for more information. Since the meeting, I have heard of the death of John Evans, who was a long-serving member of Tenby Probus. John was 99 years of age. Our sympathy goes out to his family at this sad time.
