After the disappointment caused by the cancellation of the first meeting in 2010, the second meeting was well attended and a good social atmosphere was present (writes L.D.). The only problem was that the bar was not open as we learned that Simon was no longer employed at the club. He has been a good friend to us over the years and will be sorely missed.

The meeting started with a standing tribute to a long-time member and life member Ian Paxton. Ian had not been present at the club for many years owing to ill health. Our sympathy goes out to all the members of his family at this sad time.

The anniversary boy for the day was Ray Poole and best wishes were expressed to him.

With no speaker for the day, the meeting was soon over, to be followed quickly by the annual general meeting.

The president, Peter Durdin, gave a very short summing up of the year's activities and followed this by passing the trappings of office over to the vice-president, Darrel John.

The vice-president for the year was then installed as Wilf Hardy took the reins for the next 12 months, but he has expressed no desire to be president at the end of his time in office, so we will be looking for a president in 2011.

There being no change to the rules, the standing officers were elected for a further term.

The accounts were approved and the treasurer, Robert Smith, thanked for his clear presentation; also Doug Silcox for his office as auditor. The decision was taken to leave the subs as they are, so for a further year, the annual cost will still be a miserly £5. This must be the cheapest club in town.

Arthur Squibbs and Darrel are to attempt to arrange a five-day trip early in the spring. The destination and costs are still be finalised.

The next meeting is on February 3, when speaker will be Arthur Squibbs.
