At the last meeting in August it was a pleasure to welcome Peter Robinson from a Probus Club in Warwickshire. Peter was speaker for the morning.

Anniversary boy was Steve Hinton, another from the class of 1926.

Members were pleased to hear that Tom Hughes was to be returned from hospital to the Park House which would make visiting easier for everyone. It seemed that John Potter had a touch of the 'housemaids knee', so whoever she is, John, let her go and return to the fold.

The secretary reminded everyone that Ladies Day on September 30 was all arranged. There will be a slide presentation of flowers and fauna from across Europe and a Margaret-style buffet to follow.

Peter spoke about his time in the Royal Navy during WW2. It was an insight into a corner of life that members had never experienced. Being on a ship that was torpedoed in the Mediterranean was an event that had been denied to most of them - thank the Lord!

Thank you, Peter, for a new and interesting subject well presented.

Darrel, in his vote of thanks, remarked on the wide range of topics the club manages to cover each year.

It was agreed that they make Jack Davies and Phil Beesley life members. A vote of thanks was owed to stalwart members like these for their continuance as a club.

The next meeting is on September 2 when speaker will be Darrel John. For more information on all activities, ring Lew Day on 844633.
