The second meeting in May began with the members holding a silence in memory of John Green, a past member and a well-loved friend. The club's thoughts are with Marlene and family on this sad occasion.
Arthur Squibbs said that there were still a few seats left for the trip to the Peak District in June if anyone was interested. The day trip on Ladies Day at the end of July is confirmed and more news of this will be given next month.
Anniversary boy was Don Griffiths, who was given a round of applause in his absence.
The speaker for the morning was Lew Day, who started his talk by showing a number of photographs of the Northern Lights taken in northern Canada when the temperature was -41C. He then followed this with a whole series of photos taken at his grandson's wedding, last March, in London at the Landmark Hotel. At the time, Lew had a swollen and very black eye following surgery and contrived to spoil some of the photos?
Interest was expressed by most members and it was certainly a subject with a difference.
