Recently, Tenby and District Probus Club has been pleased to welcome members of the Probus Club from New Mill, near Huddersfield.
They were on a five day exploratory visit and stayed at the Giltar Hotel.
Tenby's president and vice-president met them on their arrival and welcomed them to the town.
An evening get-together was at Tenby Bowling Club when presidents Arthur Squibbs (Tenby) and Desmond C. Skells (New Mill) exchanged memorabilia.
The following morning, the visitors were split into two groups and escorted around the town.
The more adventurous ones visited the town walls, St. Mary's Church, Tenby Museum for coffee and a conducted tour of the museum by Doug Perry.
This was followed by a visit to the Lifeboat House where Steve Lowe gave them a talk and behind the scenes look at the lifeboat. Some of them said that this was the highlight of their visit. The two groups met up at The Hope and Anchor for lunch.
At the club's second meeting in October, members were pleased to welcome Robert Smith who was visiting with a view to becoming a member.
With the president, Arthur Squibbs, in the chair, the meeting began with his usual comic quotes.
There were apologies from six people from as far away as Kenya and Birmingham.
The chairman reminded the meeting that Ladies' Day is on Wednesday, October 29, and also that the Christmas lunch will be held on December 3, which is a week earlier than usual.
Speaker for the morning was John Potter who reminded members of the themes of their last three speakers, but specifically talked about interviews which he had undergone in his career, both as an army officer and a church minister.
The next meeting is on November 5 when the speaker will be vice-president, Peter Durdin.
