There was a distinctive buzz in the air at the start of the club's Christmas social morning. This is the one meeting where there is no appointed speaker, but lots of goodies to eat and drink. The anniversary boys were Peter Durdin, whose birthday was that day, one of the class of 1926, and Tom Hughes who was born on Christmas Day. The president started the meeting with his usual humorous list of odd sayings and the secretary had an unusually heavy bag of correspondence to get through. Several items of interest were raised by the members and this was followed by a quiz which taxed the brain, won by Jack Davies (there is no substitute for experience). He was the hero of the morning and had the appropriate prize for his efforts, a box of 'Hero Chocolates'. The next meeting is on January 2, when the speaker will be Arthur Squibbs.
