With almost a full house, the president began by welcoming back Tom Hughes, who had been missing for several meetings. It was good to have him present for the morning and his telephone answering service was excellent. There were several birthday boys present and it was Ian Paxton's birthday on the day of the meeting. Congratulations were expressed to him and also Harold James, Greville Bate and Billy Russell. Speaker for the morning was Peter Durdin. His subject concerned the takeover of the British firm, in which he worked, and the difference experienced by the new order forced on them by the American way of working and thinking. There may be more to come on this subject at some future date. Thank you, Peter, for an insight into the world of engineering, big time! After the meeting, Harold invited all present to drink his health in a glass of fruit juice, or something like it. Thank you Harold for the refresher. Did Wilf start off a trend? The next meeting will be on May 16 when the speaker will be Ron Hurlow. If you are a retired gentleman, why not join for the morning. Contact Lew Day for more information on 844633.
