Ladies Day: This was an enjoyable morning with a lovely buffet to follow Lew's slide talk on his trip to USA/Canada in October last year. The next Ladies Day will be on Wednesday, May 30, when the club will be taking a coach trip to Swansea to see both the Plantasia and the new National Waterfront Museum. More on this event nearer to the date. Club meeting: New president, Mr. Tony Webster, presided at his first meeting in office and was also the 10-minute speaker for the morning. His subject was his early life when he was taken out of Tenby and set down in Edinburgh. What a change of circumstances! Tony's father was a professional soldier attached to a Scottish regiment, so Tony spent a lot of time around Edinburgh Castle. He could really talk about snow scenes, not the sketchy ones we get around here. He also had a problem with the language, as for two months he never understood them and they did not understand him. When he returned home to his grandmother in Wales she was sure he was speaking a foreign language. Thank you for this quick insight into your past. The next meeting is on February 21 when the 10- minute speaker will be Ken Hamilton. If you are a retired professional or business man why not join for the morning at the Bowling Club.
