The April meeting of the branch took place on Saturday at St. Teilo's Church Hall.

Beginning as usual with coffee and chat, the business meeting began promptly at 11 am. The minutes of the March meeting were read and agreed. In matters arising, Mansel Thomas mentioned the agreement of the NHS Trust to begin a new patient participation group to replace the LIG which oversaw the building and equipping of the new Cottage Hospital. This is deemed to be a very important issue in order to have dialogue between the professionals in the Health Service, and the patients who use it.

The chairman, Tony Wales, announced his intention to go to the Wales Labour Party Conference in Swansea. Tony also spoke briefly about the re-organisation of the Community Health Councils and said his recommendation was that they opt for the Federated Grouping of the three CHCs in the area.

Mr. Bryn Rees has been voted chairman of the Constituency Party and he gave a brief resumé of the last constituency meeting, when Nick Ainger MP addressed the meeting.

The treasurer's report was very positive, as was the balance in the lottery account.

The secretary asked for ideas for a summer event as the Manorbier Community Hall may mot be available for the usual BBQ in July.

The guest speaker for the morning was Derek Vaughan, one of Welsh Labour's European Parliamentary candidates. Presently leader of Neath-Port Talbot Council, Derek spoke knowledgeably and clearly about European Parliamentary matters.

After Derek's interesting speech, a number of interesting questions were put to him.

Following the meeting, there was a light lunch, after which Derek and six volunteers went to Tudor Square for Derek to meet potential voters and hand out leaflets.

The next meeting of the branch is on Saturday, May 15, when MP Mrs. Julie Morgan (wife of Rhodri Morgan) will speak to the members, and supporters of Labour.
