An eight table Howell was played on Wednesday, April 22. Results were: 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 73.26 per cent; 2. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 61.22; equal 3. Liz Crockford and Kevin Thomas with Nicky Hancock and Peter Oeppen 54.17; 5. Christine Wilson and Denzil Evans 51.28.
Friday, April 24: Everyone was suitably amazed at the turnout for a Friday club night. There were eight tables, enabling club director Kevin Thomas and secretary Irene Delahunty to run a rare (for our fun night) Mitchell Movement. Lovely to see Margaret and Richard Caley back at our tables after a fairly long sojourn abroad. Winners, N/S: Cindy Middleton and Liz Crockford 60.71; 2. Irene Delahunty and Margaret Davies 55.06; 3. Kevin Thomas and Doug Silcox 54.46. E/W: 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 59.82; 2. Trevena and Newman Vincent 58.63; 3. Ashleigh Scrimshaw and Jean Pollard 57.74.
Last Sunday's western area annual general meeting and John Isaac Trophy, held at Withybush Airfield, went off smoothly. John Isaac himself graciously put in a flying visit. John is well into his 90s now.
The Haverfordwest club introduced and sponsored a parallel Novices Trophy for the future champions. This was won by a partnership from the Haverfordwest club, Jan Vanringelenstein and Sumit Warnasurlya with 58.25. The John Isaac was won by a Mumbles pair, Godfrey Lewis and Graham Simmons with 62.93. The Tenby contingent did better in the afternoon session, but no glory this time.
Duplicate bridge is played twice weekly at the Kilgetty Community Centre, Wednesday at 7 pm and Friday at 6.30 pm. New members and visitors are always welcome. Ring Rosie on (01834) 813172 for partners.
