Wednesday, October 8, Brirain Great Britain simultaneous Autumn Pairs: This event was well supported with members from nine countries entering via 149 clubs, totalling  2,413 pairs (writes B. B.).

Several of our pairs did quite well internationally. Our top pair was Jill and John O'Sullivan, a very commendable 28th.  Peter Milewski and Colin Nash, both of whom think a lot, came 81st, while Chris Overton and Wally Heaton were 115th.

It was another hectic night for the club organisers, Kevin and Irene, as with 21 pairs, it turned out to be a slightly complicated Mitchell movement.

Result, North/South: 1. Peter Milewski and Colin Nash 66.46 per cent; 2. Irene Delahunty and Cindy Middleton 58.89; 3. Mike Taylor and Pam Evans 51.85; 4. Mike and Joy Whitelock 51.03. East/West: 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 63.52; 2. Chris Overton and Wally Heaton 60; 3. Aileen and Martin Neilan 55.19; 4. Rosemary Hathaway and Irene Warlow 54.26.

There will be another simultaneous pairs  this time in aid of Children in Need on Wednesday, November 12.
