The new season began last Thursday night with an Introduction to the Winter Programme.
A well attended meeting, the evening began with a presentation by members from Ray Hine's photographic course, run during the summer months, alongside the outdoor programme.
Ray gave tuition to a group of about 10 members over several weeks during the summer, and the members of the group all presented some images, showing the techniques they had learnt during the course.
This course had attracted two new members and as well as helping the attendees with their photographic techniques, had made some extra revenue for the club. Their presentation was very well received.
Details were given by the internal competition secretary, Roy Packer, of how to enter for the internal competitions, and after a break for refreshments, wonderfully provided by 'Mick The Tea', Chris Warren, the outgoing programme secretary, introduced the new programme.
The programme includes some new features, such as 'Question Time', a box for everyone to post questions for the 'experts' to answer.
These questions will be answered during the coming months.
There will be various talks, by photographers, such as Allen Lloyd ARPS, AWPF, Landscapes and Wildlife, Chris Tancock, Black and White Landscapes, and David Wilson, Pembrokeshire in Black and White, to name just a few. There will also be mini competitions, one digital image on a CD, to be judged by members on the night, and the internal club competitions.
There will be some practical nights too, so that members can try out some of their techniques, in a studio environment.
Members are very sorry to see Chris resign from the programme secretary job, as he has done a wonderful job for the club, arranging a varied and interesting programme.
The next meeting at St. Florence Village Hall will be on Thursday, September 17, with a picture evening, where members can bring up to five digital images on a CD of their favourite work. There will also be a 'question time' session.
Everyone interested in photography, beginner or experienced, is welcome to join.
